Question 2" Primary Headers Fit First Gen LS Swap?

I have a 69 Camaro that I am about to swap a 416 LS3 in... I was curious as to whether Kooks 2" longtube headers (or any brand I suppose) would fit with the stock subframe, etc?

I was planning on getting 2" but heard from someone on LS1Tech that the first gen's my have complications fitting the 2" and would have to go with 1 7/8".

Anyone with experience with the 2"??? Thanks in advance.

if a 1/16 of an inch makes all the differance then i would say the 1 7/8 don't fit either.
you probably have to try them.
it may also depend on what steering box your using

sorry no real answer for you.

We have a vendor coming on board that may have what you're looking for. I cannot share anything quite yet, but I sent him an email and will let you know what he says. His strength is getting large tubes in tight areas with LS headers.

Well, I have the DSE subframe with an LS3 418 and Harrop Supercharger. I bought Lemons Headers and they are 2". According to Lemons header website, it says that you can get 2" with stock subframe. http://www.lemonsheaders.com/products/lspt-300.htm

My kooks 1 7/8" headers fit Perfectly in my stock sub-frame, and can support up to 800hp. Don't know why you want 2" primaries unless your building something totaly insane.

Don't have a good pic, but the primaries hang below the subframe by about a 1/4" and they clear my DSE steering box with NO issues (using Dirty Dingo sliders). Quality is top notch!

100% recommend Kooks!

Going stroked LS3 with procharger down the road, so yeah 2" would be nice...

I think your only real issue is steering box clearance. I would talk to Kooks and see what they say, maybe they can do a stepped 1 7/8 to 2" for you to get around it.

Looking forward to the build!

Took a pic for ya, once again, this is a stock sub with 1 7/8" Kooks and a DSE steering box...about a half inch clearance and I was able to slide the engine full forward and back with the Dirty Dingo sliders with no issues (maybe 2.5").
