Default Corvette IRS in a 1st Gen??

A guy was telling me last night that one of the Corvette IRS complete assembly fits perfectly in to a 1st gen as an almost bolt in installation. Anyone know anything about this? He thought it was the C5 Vette

Lol, not even close to a bolt in deal with a C5. I could see a C4 being more a bolt in deal, but still I'd think would require some cutting.

I'm putting a C5 in my '69 Camaro and had to do a wide body to clear the wheels. https://lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php?t=52425

Yeah, it's anything but bolt in. The C5 is quite a bit wider than a camaro of this vintage. I'm putting one in my nova and narrowed the drivetrain.

There's a first gen that's half done for sale right now for a bargain! Go check the classifieds.

Remember the rear suspension on the Vette has the strange leaf thing:

I have heard the previous gen camaro will work. I really like this swap idea too. Seriously considering for my 68 Camaro

you might want to look into these mounts:

Did some looking into this myself and it seemed like this is a much cheaper route then going with a Heidt's IRS.

I used his front and rear mounts on my 56 Cameo pickup. That and a $1000 C5 roller donor.

Craigslist. It had been parted out but had everything I wanted. Front and rear suspension, brakes, steering, transaxle, torque tube, etc.

I gave what was left of it to a guy who said he was going to put it under an 80’s Skylark.
