Ridetech Subframe Connectors for 67-69 F body

Hey everyone,

We have been tossing around the idea of building some subframe connectors for quite some time and decided it was time to make it happen. We just finalized the design for the 1st gen F body (for coupe cars only) a couple of months ago and are now shipping them out the door! Instead of trying to find a way to make a set that works with the original leaf spring mounts, we designed a setup that has an integrated leaf spring mount for even more added strength (which is the coolest part about these in my mind). These are a super nice fitting piece that help eliminate the chassis flex that these uni-body cars have fought since day one.

So I just installed these on my 69 and thought I'd share the experience. All I have left to do is drill the holes and install the reinforcing bolts in the sides of the front subframe.

First off, let me say these are awesome connectors and are a great bolt in alternative (best in my opinion!). I did notice a few things on my install. There are 4 stepped washers that come with the hardware kit that are not mentioned/listed in the instruction. These are the spring eye bolt locating washers. I installed them from the outside as there was not enough clearance on the inside. The stepped part fits into the hole on the spring bucket to better locate the bolt.

The other thing I noticed is if you bolt the spring pocket to the car (even with bolts left loose), then try to swing the connector up to the front subframe, mine came in contact with the bottom of the frame, unable to clear it. I had to unbolt the connector, pull down on the leaf spring so the front of the connector would clear the bottom of the frame, then support the front of the subframe connector with a jack stack until later to reinstall the front bushing and mount which sandwiches the connector against the frame. Again, a minor issue and maybe car/frame specific. Frame is stock to the car and believed to be a 69.

The last issue I had was likely car specific as I had to replace the floor (one piece), frame rails, inner/outer rocker, etc. So clearances were probably slightly out of spec. I had to relocate the j-nut and holes for the inner most spring pocket bolt rearward approx. 1/8 inch. I also had to slightly trim the ear off of the outer most part of the spring pocket in order to install since my car frame to rocker lip clearance was too tight.

Again, mostly minor issues that come with installing custom parts on a 50 year old car, but I couldn’t happier with the results.
