Default Vintage Air BBC Replacement Parts

Not quite sure where to post this?
Friend has a Vintage Air Front Runner system on his big block Chev, which needs a new water pump, listed Part No 72213-BCR, and alternator listed Part No 040707.
With a meet in a couple of weeks that he is very keen to attend, he has been quoted no stock available for months.
Are there other replacement options?
Is the alternator a Mechman unit?

thanks

I had to replace my mechman alternator on my SBC and couldn't find anything that fit my front runner setup. Had to call mechman directly and worked with a rep to order build to order setup... not cheap and took 3 weeks to get it shipped.

Appears Jegs lists the part in your case with an estimated 4/2 ship date direct from Mechman most likely... no clue on international shipping: https://www.jegs.com/i/Vintage-Air/960/040707/10002/-1

Mechman can rebuild the one you have. If you go the rebuild route, I highly recommend having them change the regulator to a 3 wire setup. Every failed 1 wire Mechman I have seen has been the regulator. I have yet to replace a 3 wire unit.

The water pumps come from Stewart. They may not sell you one but they might rebuild the one you have.

Thumbs up

That sucks about the replacement parts availability for the VA front runner stuff. Have you considered changing to the Holley Mid mount setup for the BBC? It is very similiar to the VA setup but uses more OEM style parts (cartridge style water pump) and the alternator puts out over 100 amps at idle. You also have the option to go with different finishes depending on your build. I have a couple of friends that have the SBC version and love it. I have the LS version in my car.

Here's a quick look of the Holley mid mount on my BBC. Only thing I've noticed is the nose of the water pump protrudes out further than the VA frontrunner so this could be an issue with the clearance of the electric fan you run.

I have installed the Holley mid mount systems on both my LS3 70 Camaro and 350 SBC C-10, awesome units. I have suggested it as an alternative to my mate.

We are located in Australia so shipping etc comes in to timing also

There is a thought that EDL-8854 can be used, https://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-8854

I am unable to confirm the depth of the Stewart pump. The Edelbrock is 5.750"

Is anyone able to advise

Have an auto electrician that is going to replace reg in alternator to see if that fixes the intermittent voltage drops.

thanks
