a 40 series wall works on a 17 because the 1 inch smaller rims allows for the wall and bulge


and you will have to roll the inner fender.....

Something's not right. Either your wheel is wider than 9.5", they shipped you the incorrect backspacing, or your rear end is not the original and is too wide for your car. I am running 18" wheels on my 69 and they tuck way more than the one pictured. My wheels are 18" x 9.5" with 5.5" backspacing. I am running Nitto NT555's in a 275/40 size. I did roll my fender lips, but really don't think I had to. I also have Hotchkis 1-1/2" drop leaf springs. Have you verified the backspacing yet ?
