Default Looking for spoiler suggestions...

I have a 79 Camaro that has no spoiler whatsoever. I am looking for some ideas aside from the stock Z spoiler. If anyone has done something like this or has any suggestions they would be welcome.

I can fabricate it myself, so even a concept would work if it's not a "production" spoiler.

I'm starting to get all my parts and pieces together for when I tear into it, and the spoiler makes a huge difference. There are no other spoilers on the car.

Keith,

I always liked this more understated rear spoiler from the 70-73 Camaros. I wonder how it will relate to the taillights creeping around the side though.

Yeah Ben, I thought of the same thing, but as you stated, the tailights cause the problem. I would think whatever I use would have to "come down the side" like the Z spoilers.

Maybe I can modify the design of the Z spoiler. Maybe lower it an inch or 2, and slant it back a bit more.

I was thinking the same thing. Just an inch or inch and a half should make a dramatic change. I think the worst thing would be to add one of those aftermarket 2 pedistal generic wings you see on most '80's G-bodies.

What about changing the rear taillight panel to look like a 70-73? That would actually be a more involved process then that. You have to change the bumper, quarter and lower valence as well.....nevahmind

I had thought about filling in the side where the light wraps around and using a same year or even a later model T/A rear taillight

I like Ben's idea and think it may be high enough that it won't "fight" the marker lights but if not, I think you're pretty lucky to have one of the few 2nd gen Camaros with no spoiler so seriously consider saving yourself the trouble and embrace the old adage; "less is more"
There's a good reason the Foose/Unique Performance Camaros don't have a trunk spoiler.
