So as of today, it's going to be a thrash for me to get TOW ready to drive up to FW. I'm determined to try, and Eric is certainly willing, but parts vendors are making things tough on us...
The latest schedule as of this afternoon looks like we will get the parts back in our hands on Wednesday, the day before I'm planning to drive up. Fun...
The big holdup is the exhaust. We're replacing the front section with oval pipe to help with ground clearance. We needed some oval flanges to be able to unbolt everything. It turns out that for the ones we chose, there were only 3 in-stock in the distributors in the US. The 4th one is having to come from Canada. I was hoping it would be at the distributor today, but I didn't receive the confirmation call I was supposed to get. That means I have no idea when I'll have it in my hands. I was going to overnight it to us to have on Tuesday so that Eric could wrap up the pipes mid-week, and then take them to the ceramic coater. He's quoting me 5 days to get them done.
To add insult to injury, we dropped off the 9" chunk to a local driveline shop to check the settings (it's been noisy almost since new). Well, it needed some shims for the noise, but they also found the bearings were pitted. And of course they don't have the bearings which Strange used in stock, so those won't be in until Monday, meaning we'll get the chunk back around Wednesday most likely. That wastes Eric's time as he has to install and remove the torque arm to craft the exhaust before the chunk is ready. All on a 1300 mile brand new chunk!
We'll get her there, but I'll have to miss the practice auto-x I was planning on the 9th, and we'll be pushing to make the 13th.
