Default '63 Convertible RestoMod

This build story begins in 1991, when we had a random stranger stop by my garage (having seen I was building a Corvette) and said he knew where a 63' convertible vette sat in a field. Hindsight being 20-20, I should have passed. But we salvaged her and drug her around for 20 years before starting work in 2013. I've always said cars are more about 'the story' than steel, fiberglass and rubber.

Here's just some snapshots of the progress along this lengthy build. As this project comes closer to an end, I'll back-fill on the cool stuff later.

About myself in brief:
I started my 'lateral G' obsession in high school when I started (again) with a basket case 71' coupe vette. I learned that I'm a designer / fabricator at heart early on. I manage to do pretty decent at wrenching and body work, but it's all about taking an idea and then building it that drives me.

My hobby paralleled my career in the Tool & Die business, where I became a designer. There's lots of cool stuff that a guy can build with access to that kind of equipment. Another 7 year build was my (still have her) 80' custom vette. The interior was the central focus. In 2004, I went into business as a contract designer with a partner. I love what I do and enjoy the challenges. So I sit at a desk 10+ hours a day designing in 3D.

As I've built this 63', I found myself backing into making sets of my headlights for C2 vettes. Having enjoyed that aspect of hot-rodding, I've expanded and produce some other pieces. I've also dipped into 3D scanning for hot-rodding and am enjoying the challenges of that type of design.

Anyway... I look forward to getting to know the Lat-G family!

-Scott

Default Thankful

Thankful at Thanksgiving 2019! Glad to get Rae home from paint. I've never done a 'paint off the chassis' body before and I'm super excited at the quality. Every hour working on the car from here on should be a lot of fun. No deadlines, just plodding along meticulously as always. Enjoying the fruits of thousands of hours and (many) thousands of dollars spent!

Welcome to the site, Scott. Fantastic build you've got. The work is top notch. What are the ducts coming up to the hood between the radiator and engine? Brake cooling? Keep us updated.
