Thats exactly what its for. When we poured it the sun was out and it was very windy the next day which sometimes dryies the top too fast. When we did work for the state they wouldn't let us strip abutments for 7 days. I figure I'm home so why not.

Only problem is them I would have to explain where all the parts come from lolplus when I get the car back sitting in it making those engine noises gets embarassing when they watch through the window.

Been awhile since I scolled down to this sub forum. I see you finally got this garage off to a good start with all the issues you had up front. Glad your contractors are coming through for you. Looks like you'll have a good winter project ahead for yourself setting things up interior wise for your needs.

My contractor came by today to check the walls for level and put the sill plates on. He checked it with a level and it was only 1/16" in any of the places he checked. Which was along side all the bolts.

Here are a couple of pictures of what they did.

He also pulled down the soffit and a corner board to see where the top plate is so he can measure for the wall hieght. It looks like I will have 12' + from the floor to top plate. The reason I will get that much is because the second floor has 2x10 joists with a top plate that the roof rafters sit on. which gives me the extra hieght. He said he might be able to get more but I will have to see what it will look like on the outside. I don't want it to look funky.
We are waiting for the trusses to be done. They will be dilivered next week. He is building a house in the next town over and he's roofing it. He has a man lift he will use to put up the trusses here but also needs to get the roof done. He's great to work with so he said he would like to finnish the roof so he could move the lift only once. When he finnishes the roof he will be here until the garage is done unless we have weather bad enough to prevent him working here.
Before he left he took some measurements for the door and window headers. We still need to discuss where I want the door to enter the house from the garage. Hopefully it all goes as planned. The tuffest part is explaining to my wife why its not done yet. I would hate to work for here.

What's your plan to treat the stem wall? Rock facing it or firing it out and continuing the siding or?

Looks great Wayne... she'll be a "shed" in no time!

Thanks Greg The out side will have the sheeting run past the the top of the wall 12 to 18" with the siding. Maybe a little more, we'll see when the time comes. I was wondering if I should prime and paint the back side of the sheeting that goes down past the the sill plate to protect it from dampness? Any suggestions?

It certainly wouldn't hurt to "seal" it on the back side until you get above the wall. It won't see the light of day - so UV protection etc doesn't come into play but water 'wicks' and build up of snow etc and you could certainly get moisture up behind there. It's the old an ounce of prevention rule...

Thumbs up

That's awesome Wayne. Good to see some progress.
I'm with you. Maybe better to keep that bay window blocked so the "Misses" doesn't see any "new" parts coming and going. lol
Take care bud.
