Default Steering column Intermediate Shaft?

I have 69 camaro, I am installing Ididit column, It is 3/4 36 on column end I have a 3/4 36 u-joint with the isolator built in, It is 3/4 36 on the rack side, I have regular 3/4 36 on the rack side, My question is the isolator u-joint goes on the column? and the regular one on the rack, Then connect using 3/4 dd shaft, Do you weld the ujoints, on the shaft or just use the set screws? Also it is solid shaft do I need a collapsable one, instead of solid? Think I am overthinking this a little but just want to do it once the right way,
Thanks

Default

usually i put the isolator on the rack, and i use the set screws then weld on the flats, i wouldnt weld on the one with the isolator. and using a solid shaft is ok, the collapsable one is kind of a saftey if you smash into something the shaft will collapse instead of push the steering column up into the pass compartment.
