Default New 12 bolt pinion seal leaks

While I was replacing the transmission and drive shaft I thought I would replace my rear pinion seal on my 12 bolt in my 72 Camaro. Well it leaks more now than when I replaced it, I will replace it again but what I'm I missing? It has been on the lift since I replaced it and it has not been out on the road does it need some road time to seal better??
Thanks

Seems right. I’ve put 3 new pinion seals in my 12 bolt...they all 3 leak. I am going to do a gear change soon, and I’ll try the spacer mod.
Thanks for posting this!

My Chevelle is old school... It has a belt driven power steering pump.

Hope that link works. I find Freddie (big gear head) is always right. He built rears for a living in his shop for like 40 years

Well then...I’ll try the Ratech seal instead of the spacer mod.

I 2nd spacing the seal. I rebuild driveline for a living, this has been a problem for some time. I machined a spacer for my car years ago. Customers, I use C4 C6 square cut servo seal to space the away for the bearing.
