Default Foodie alert: Just tried glazed donut french toast

My wife saw a post on fb for making french toast using leftover glazed donuts instead of bread.

Let's just say you'll thank me later.

I think it was Gordon Gekko who said 'Glazed is good.'

Oh man! You've got me craving some Krispy Kreme now. Growing up in the south, I would go to KK and watch them make the donuts and get them right off the assembly line. The ones out this way are good but just fried is hard to top.

lol, I actually believe the ones I can get around here are only a day old. Not sure where they are made though. I'm betting OKC or the DFW Metroplex. Maybe Amarillo. I haven't looked. I do my best to actually avoid them when I see them so as to not go nuts buying them. Lemon jelly filled ones are fantastic. Then again so are chocolate coated, apple filled, raspberry filled, creme filled with chocolate on top, sprinkles, and .......

My niece is a culinary artist...! LoL! She is a student at Johnson and whales or something like that in Charlotte. She is on a custom burger kick now and made a Krispy Kreme burger..... A donut on the top and bottom for the bun. I couldn't bring myself to try it, but she said it was good. LoL!

Oh yeah. I believe that was created in GA. I heard about it a while ago. Sounds delicious, though I have not tried it myself.

We are out in a very rural/ag heavy area where very reasonable farm land prices have attracted a fair number of Amish and Mennonites from PA & Ohio.

We get the do-nots from a Mennonite deli, very old skool...horse and buggy, no telephones, off the power grid; they use propane to run their equipment. I would say these are better then the glazed Krispy Kremes I've had.

Nice Tones.
