Default E-Stopp Electric e-brake info wanted

For those using the E-Stopp units, can you provide some insight as to the pros & cons? installation tips & tricks would be great. I'm thinking of using one on my 68 Camaro with 5th Gen Camaro e-brake backing plates.

Default E-Stopp E brake system

I will be installing E-Stopp on my 66 Chevelle within a few months. Car is currently undergoing major mods. My fab guy says he used them with great results so I decided to go that route with a Roadster Shop chassis.

No real drawback except space availability on where to mount it. There are various solutions that have been completed. Here is mine:

CJ, I went through all 41 pages of your build, I must have missed it but, I need more info on those subframe brackets. How you did the bolt through and such.

I thought the larger bracket (2 to 1)came with the kit. The smaller bracket we made. The Estopp unit we used rivnuts and spot welded on the inside when we had the seat pan removed for the subframe connectors as I recall. Hope that answers your questions.

The con I see, and why I am using a mechanical lever, is that is just a parking brake, not an emergency brake. There is no way to modulate the braking to the axle, it's either on or off, so locked up or free wheeling. If you were in a situation and lost brakes on your car (especially track), you can at least modulate a lever by keeping the release pushed with your thumb (we all did this right after learning to drive!).

Try slowing your car from 70mph with your parking brake. Back in the days of full sized rear drums, you could do some slowing. Today, with tiny parking brake calipers or the little 6" drums, forget about it.

The estopp is factory wired to only operate when the ignition is turned off. So unless that is bypassed, and you lose your brakes at speed, you’d have to kill the ignition to get the estopp to activate. You’d then lose power steering and transmission control. Seems like a lot to manage in an emergency situation.

My plan in an emergency is to stomp on my lokar e brake pedal and start downshifting like a mofo.

And I have had a master cylinder go bad, actually I believe mine was the one that triggered Wilwood’s recall a few years back.
