I love powermaster starters over GM.
I have no experience with LS motors.
I run BBC.
That being said,
My first GM starter was axially offset and no shimming could fix it.
I went with Powermaster because:

1. I can adjust axial offset.
2. I can clock the starter.
3. I can use all three bolts to secure starter to block.

(I just bought a new AC/Delco starter for my zero turn and it has a stamp:
Made in Korea)

Powermaster rules.

For LS engines the factory starters work great and they are affordable. No need to go with anything else imho.

I realize this thread is old but wanted to add this bit of info. If you're using an early Quicktime bellhousing for a Magnum transmission with a *round* hole for the starter, an LS3 starter may cause some interference to fit. The earlier LS1 starter mounts about 1/8" differently and fits perfectly to both the engine, flywheel, and bellhousing. Later Quicktime bellhousings have an oval opening for the starter so the LS3 starter will fit, no problem.
