Default BMW M3 wheels on a Chevelle... is it ever going to happen?

Hi All,

Now have a dilemma...

the plan:
I have a set of 18x8" and 18x9" BMW M3 wheels and my plan was to use the 18x9" wheels up front on the Chevelle and have the front 18x8" BMW M3 wheels to 18x11" and use them in the rear on my Chevelle, then after setting the height of the car and driving it to check for rubbing issues etc. (we are talking at least a year or two from now), buying the 18x10" and 18x12" wheels I want (probably Schott Velocity or Octane)

the problem:
Tireman say that after widening it will be hard to get the tires on the wheels but that its doable, the wheel widening company say that widening 3" outboard will not make you mount a tire.

the options:
1. send one wheel to be widened and try to mount a tire, eventually loosing some money and a BMW wheel.
2. sell the BMW rims and buy the 18x10" and 18x12" Schott wheels I want so much risking rubbing issues when I'm able to drive the car.

the facts:
-I dont think mounting 18x10" fronts will be a problem as there seams to be plenty of space with the 18x9" mounted.
-a 12" wide wheel is close to 13" wide and there are 13 1/2" between the inner fender and the fender lip (at least 1/2" can be gained by rolling the lip).
-I dont think there will be any considerable lateral movement of the rear axle due to the car having a Vette IRS.
-widening two wheels and shipping will be more or less $1K
-four Scott wheels will be around $4K !!
-I plan to use 305/35-18" and 275/35-18" tires.

any good ideas?

the bmw rims are 5x120mm and the chevelle is 5x120.65mm close but not perfect fit.. ive driven arround on a set of beamer rims for several years.. but just be ware that they arent a 100% fit...

Personally,I would spend the money to widen those BMW wheels when they aren't a correct fit to begin with.
Save your money and do it right the first time.
