Well today was a day that I was dreading for a really long time......I had to put our dog Jackie down today and it was terrible. I cant believe how attached one can get to an animal. She was 12 years old and what a ride it was !!!!! I have some incredible memories ,video and photos that we will cherish forever. Man I miss her already!!!!!!!

This is one I know very well. In August I had to put my buddy down. He was 15 and a half years old. I still get choked up talking about him.

Very sad and sorry to hear about this Steve!

I feel your pain....after 16 yrs we had to put my friend Rusty to sleep....he was suffering from the 'Big C' and it was best, but not an easy decision that's for sure!

Spend this time smiling and remebering the great times you had...time will pass and it will get easier, but we never forget our pets as they are part of the family!

How's the kids and wife doing with all this?

It's time for one of our hour long phone calls!!!

There's only one way to fix this.... with a NEW PUPPY! Thank god that your best friends had a good life... and know that you can never "replace them" -- but you can be happy with a new friend.

Thumbs up

I know the feeling, all too well. It is extremely tough. I've had dogs all my life and it is very hard to put them down. Sorry to hear about that.

Unhappy

Sorry about your loss. Dogs are undoubtedly great companions. Mine goes with me wherever possible. Don't know how I'd act if I were to lose her. My family did lose beloved dogs twice now, and it's so wrenching. I agree on getting another dog whenever you're ready, not to replace, but there are plenty out there who can use a good owner who cares like yourself.

We just lost our 16 yr old Pomerainun-Shelty mix, Sugar. I can relate, its hard to lose a great pet. You love them so much, and they return the love. Just remember the good times you had, and joy that was brought into both of your lives.
