Default QA-1 lowering question

Hi guys,

I posted a thread earlier last month about how to further lower my coilovers and never really got a straight answer and had the time to really look into it but I think I figured it out.

I stated that I have 1/2" thread left from the bottom thinking that lowering the spring will lower the car but I have a feeling that raising the spring will compress the spring, thus shortening it, ultimately lowering the car.

Please confirm!

You have it backwards.

The spring rate is fixed and the weight of the car is fixed.

Since F=kX x is always the same.

F is the weight
k is the spring rate
x is the compressed spring length at that weight.

The only way to lower your car is to get a shorter spring, a softer spring rate or lowering your nut that holds the bottom of the spring.

Good luck.

Thanks for this info. Do you know if QA-1 makes a shorter spring than the spring the GM coilover conversion comes with? I'm guessing they do...
