Default Watts link

Guys need some gut check here. Looking at the Fays2 weld in kit. I am familiar with the KP component kit for trucks. I have a 1968 impala. Goals for the car are spirited driving. Possible track day.

Current pan hard bar is approx 35.75"cen to cen. 4 link setup. I have approx 0.75" swing travel at full swing. Running a 255 tire. Air suspension on lower bars. Lower bars are global west rubber bush at reared and spherical at the body. Uppers are umi poly bushed.

I am at the ready to powder coat the chassis stage. If I am going to do this now is the time. Is this for me?

Advantages
Possible 275+ tire
-.75" movement on pass side.
Cool factor.

Car averages about 3k miles a year. Local shows. Looking for high 600hp. 255 tires are never going to hook. So future wider tire is probably not far off.

Jim has been great for info and sent me info for measurements.

Just looking for some one to confirm that this is a path I'm needing to head down or if I am just star struck by the whole idea.

Thanks in advance

I built my watts link for the same reason. I wanted to run a 275 tire in the back of my falcon. A panhard bar gave too much lateral travel. The watts link is great. With roller bearing like Fays offers you should have no problem running that as a daily driver. I would do everything possible to keep the bearing clean and prevent dirt/water getting into them. If you use rodends on the links I would use 'seals it' dust covers.

Good luck with your build and post up some pictures.

Just giving this more thought.....is your rear suspension a triangulated 4-link? If so you will have two roll centers fighting against eachother. Which would cause bind.

Default Yes....

I think the lower bars are angled uppers are straight.
i sent Jim an email asking about this potential problem.
Thanks for being my second pair of eyes on the setup.
a 315 would be an even bigger pipe dream than the 275.s
