Default new Tremec TKX 5speed is out! 8000rpm shifts rated at 600 ft/lbs

For those of you unhappy with your TKO600 here is the newest offering from Tremec..... the TKX 5speed!
https://www.hotrod.com/articles/trem...ssion-install/

Higher RPM shifting and smoother shifting

I'm sure the torque rating is very conservative.... as the T56 Magnum is rated at 700 ft/lbs .... and plenty of us are pushing 1000rwtq thru them without issues.

Has anyone driven the TKX yet? How does it compare to a T56 Magnum (Fstyle)?

I've got my TKX in the car since summer last year but the build isn't done so I haven't driven it yet. No mod to the trans tunnel was required. I am coming from a T-5Z with a small block ford making 350hp. The car now has an LS7 making over 500whp. Should be fun

I have installed two.

One replaced a TKO and the customer was ecstatic. Shifts are so much cleaner.

The other replaced a Richmond 5 speed and that was also significantly nicer to drive.

Shift throws seemed long to me but both cars had relatively tall shifters and I am comparing to the 6" stick on my T56. I didn't get to really wail on either car so I can not comment on high rpm shifting.

I just sold a customer a close ratio TKX with the .81 5th gear. Hopefully he will be driving it this month and give us some feedback. LS swapped 70's C10 truck

That's a broad question... the .81 Chevy version is super hard to get. The more common unit with lots of overdrive are available. The Ford units are shipping out where in the beginning it was only GM units.

Slightly older thread, but figured I would throw in my $0.02...

The WCT5 was not holding up to the mid 300hp SBF in my foxbody, probably to nobody's surprise. I ended up getting a close ratio TKX setup (0.81 O/D) from SilverSport and I've been beyond pleased with it. Shifts are crisp but not notchy, and they feel precise like the CD009 that was in my 370Z. The gear ratios are perfect for the power this car is making and I'm sitting right at 2500RPM on the highway at 70mph. I feel it was a great investment for the car, worth every penny.
