Default New car/Project! 67 Firebird

Almost a Camaro! Now I will see if this first gen stuff really is so cool everybody thinks! This is the most expensive car I have ever bought, always have had somewhat "cheaper" cars, but hey, you only live once! And this is my first car on a forum.

It is a 1967 Firebird, it has a lot of Nice parts, but still needs a lot of work, because it is basically a bit "shoddy" put together...

I dont know everything yet, just got it. Have a list but I must check it out myself to be sure.......

But in short it is supposed to be:

461cid Pontiac -stroked 400, Wenzler heads and roller cam. Put together by a Company, not selfbuilt, and dynoed.

TKO600 gearbox, Coleman driveshaft, Strange 12 bolt, 35 splines. Leaf springs.

Sweet short steering box. Heidts front A-arms and coil overs, small willwood brakes on all 4, 15" Wheels fits. And some other stuff, but this is the main stuff.

The clutch pedal is so hard that you must be a "strongman" to push it Down(and I do lift weights too....) Im gonna check how the pedal ratio is tomorrow, I think the hydraulic pump rod is just mounted wrong, hope so atleast..

And it seems to be Stock ball joints, so seems to be Stock front end geometry, so the tubular arms just looks good and dont do much good.. It even seems to be shimmed for LESS caster..

It is like this the whole way through the car, some homemade brackets for servo and alternator that dont align properly and throws belts and such, even though it is a lot of good and expensive parts it is basically put together sloppy and fast in many ways, most of this seems to be "free" repairs that will make this car a really fun car!

Added a pic, gonna add more, since a thread is basically worthless without pics... He..He..

And even though it looks clean it us super dirty and grimey, especially underneath, the past owner lived in a sort of "Dukes of Hazzard" Place, so it has probably been driven like Bo and Luke did too. He..He.. But it is supposed to be used though!

Gotta admit I love the color. Looks pretty clean.

Should be fun!

Thanks, the color is Volvo Saffron pearl metallic.

I believe the Volvo color code is 435, but if it is exactly the same I do not know. Mixed the same etc.

The interior is not as Nice as the exterior.

Dang man I was expecting to see a typical 1st gen in need of body work when I started reading your post, then I got to the pic. That color looks great! Sounds like you have some nice mods planned. I'll be putting a stroked 400 in my 67 as well some point down the road. The cammed 455 will do for now while I work on body and suspension. Can't wait to see some progress on yours.

Thanks, it was painted 6 years ago, and looks good, but have some minor stuff here and there. Im gonna start easy before I throw too much Money on it, first fix all the small stuff and make everything work as it should be doing.

And I like that you gonna keep Your 67` Bird Pontiac Powered.

Looks great! The color choice was excellent. Do you think you'll keep the color?

Nice Bird! Is it a gold color? My '69 is originally gold but I am looking for something different in a gold color.
