At the risk of loosing my car guy card, why do they call them shotgun motors?

The first Ford Nascar motor with big round intakes was banned. Calling the shots from the bleachers I would stuff one of these in the Fairlane.

We have been taking care of the rust issues all over this car. Not a single piece is available so everything has to be fabbed from scratch. It is turning out to be a rather involved project.

Lower quarter panels welded in place

Started on the inner and outer wheel houses as well. A lot of other smaller rust repair and panel fabrication has been done just about everywhere on the car. Rockers, floors, kick panel, cowl sides, top of the quarters, and just about everywhere behind the side trim has needed some attention.

As always some stellar metalwork. To bad the owner won't let you tub it for some decent sized rubber. I get the close to stock height stock outward appearance thing; I don't get the no way to use any of the hp made by that shotgun thing. I guess there is an ultimate grandma burnout car scene somewhere.
