And it seemed they really enjoyed rubbing our noses in that reality too...lol

I was in high school in the early 70's also so we are close in age Skip. My introduction to Oldsmobiles was by my maternal grandfather. He had them right through the 60's 70's. He used to take us out in his 60's era delta 88 convertible and put his foot down slowly, and that thing just pulled and pulled! He had a green 72 cutlass supreme he drove down to my high school graduation in 1974. I knew there was something about that car I really liked and I took a picture (film in those days) of it. Wish I had a chance to buy it but was in the army when he succumbed to Alzheimers and the opportunity did not present itself. Something I regretted for a long time. Since then I got the hardtop/autocross project in 2001, then a same year convertible two years later. I consider myself very lucky to have two of my favorite Oldsmobiles in my garage.
Once the autocrosser is done, the 'vert will be frameoff restored as a 442 w30 tribute since they only built 113 of them. But I gotta get my auto-x jones taken care of first.
