Default Hagerty not covering our vehicles.

Yesterday I went to up the value on my car and renew my policy with Hagerty. They requested pictures and mods done to car. After I sent in photos they said they could not give me coverage for personal Injury, uninsured motorist and uninsured property damage. Reason being that the car has racing seats, roll bar and other “pro street” modifications.

All other coverages were given, but this just makes absolutely no sense to me. Has anyone else ran into this and if so how did you over overcome it? Or is there another company that will provide coverage?

it makes some sense in that a RollBar in a Street Car is not advisable, and a Racing Seat usually have 4 or 5 point Belts which are not DoT Legal

How do you get around it? Don't tell them everything or find a different company. I've had these Mods on a car and had it insured with Heacock Classic

Called Heacock sent them photos and they gave me full coverage at the same value and it was 900 a year less. Thank you for the recommendation.

Hagerty is a joke. They once denied me coverage because I told them my car was for sale. I will only use them for project insurance since I haven't found anyone else that carries it. Once driveable I won't use them and tell my customers the same. Grundy has been pretty good to several of my customers. I had safeco on my Nova, mainly because no mileage restrictions.

Grundy has been good to me for nearly 14 years. I've never had a claim, thank GOD, but the prices have been nice and the increases were fair in my opinion.

I have Condo Skelly love them. My Corvette jumped out of gear and they paid 14K to fix it. No question other than what happened. My Cuda has been with them since 2006.

I’ve got mine insured with LaRue Classic Insurance. It’s got a roll bar, 4 point harnesses and Recaro seats and I had zero issues getting coverage. It was easy, priced very competitively to what I’ve heard from others with coverage from big name carriers. I was also able to set the mileage limit and not feel like a criminal for driving my car. Obviously, if I wreck it on the track, it’s my baby but that’s SOP. Since LaRue is based out of KY, I’m not sure what region(s) they cover but may be worth checking out.

Plus one for Larue. Alex gets us and the price and service is great as well.

LaRue here as well. Added a 92’ Camaro to my Chevelle policy this past fall and they were great about it. Went on their instruction on how to save myself money through them. Great folks. My brother has his 87’ C10 through them as well.

My Chevelle is old school... It has a belt driven power steering pump.
They're 17's, but I keep em clean!
