Cool Bad timing to find a great deal

Just today I started finally ordering some parts for my suspension build.

I spent half of my suspension budget and bought half my parts, and my phone rings... It's Dad, and he's wondering if I'd be interested in a '70 L78 396 375hp engine (complete/running w/accessories) for $750... uh, yeah, I am!

I'm going tonight to check it out It's definitely an L78 block, but the guy doesn't know squat about it (he called the dealership and gave them the deck-stamping to see if it was a 454 )

Gotta go spend the rest of my suspension budget on an engine I don't need

Sounds like a good deal. If it checks out, you should be able to turn it pretty quickly and then buy more stuff with the profit.

Too good to be true

Either the guy reading the deck stamping or the guy at the dealership was on crack, because the casting # is a 2-bolt 454, and the date is 1-12-73... I'm glad I called for more info before driving 75 miles to go look at it

Not a bad price for a running 454, but it's no L78 396.
