Default 1978 Blazer

Starting a new project. The goal is a very reliable vehicle for Goodguys Hall of Fame Tour.

I found a nice 2wd Blazer with good patina and little to no rust. It looked like some one found it and threw a hillbilly slam job on it and some wheels.

My plan is to raise it a bit and install a 2018 Tahoe L83 (5.3L) and 6 speed in it. I found one on EBay with 3 miles on it from a train derailment.

I purchased the following off that totaled truck: engine, trans, ecm, wiring harness, radiator, fans, induction, fuel pump and controller, under hood fuse block, wiring harnesses, exhaust and evaporation system.

It should run like a 2018 Tahoe.

Awesome! What kind of chassis are you thinking?

Mostly stock chassis with some Ridetech stuff on it. I’m attempting to keep it simple.

The truck drives good.

Had a chance to buy a K5 Blazer years ago...still kicking myself on why I didn't and the price was right too.

Thumbs up

Great project!

I have Ridetech's StreetGrip setup in my 1990 Silverado, it drives and rides great.

Did anyone else reading this chuckle just a bit and get excited about what this project morphs into?

Good luck with the build Mark, can't wait to see how it turns out. Thanks for sharing it with us...

Wonder if Charlie is the market for a Blazer someday... Can’t wait to see what you do with it.
