Bob came to EBMC to talk about how his newly acquired Buick Riviera could be modernized to handle better and have better performance. As we talked he made it clear he did not want to lose the iconic Bill Mitchell design features that made the Riviera what it is. With the aftermarket suspension options pretty slim, and after some careful measurements, the decision was made to graft in an RS Fast Track universal front clip, and modify the factory 3 link with EBMC control arms and conversion to coilovers. After showing him another sleeper GTO we did with an Erod LS3, we suggested disguising an LS3 to appear as an original nailhead. He gave us the green light to use our ideas as long as it had a stock theme to it. Heres what we came up with:
480 hp LS3 with fast throttle body and Holley controller
GM 4L70 E transmission
EBMC 9" Ford rear end with 3.89 gears
RS "Fast Track" universal crossmember
EBMC modified rear 3 link with Afco coilovers
Factory gas tank modified with 2010 Camaro fuel pump module
2.5" stainless exhaust with Magnaflow cats, mufflers and x -pipe
18" Circle racing Buick tribute ralleys 10" rear 8" front
14" Wilwood front 13.8 rear with Superlite 6 piston calipers
Vintage Air Gen IV system with custom control panel faces to appear stock
Bluetooth operated Rockford Fosgate sound processer, Memphis amp, two 8" subs, four 6" coaxial speakers all hidden
LED front lights
"Clamshell" headlight covers converted to linear actuator operation
Painted 2012 Porsche "Umber" metallic
All stock interior was carefully restored with new woodgrain applied
The end result is a car thats quiet, handles extremely well for its size, is an absolute blast to drive and fools most every casual observer.
