My 1969 Mach 1 started
life as a 351 automatic. Body was pretty straight when I bought it. The body was
stripped, drip mouldings shaved, new door skins installed and painted black. The
bolt on hood scoop was replaced with a factory shaker and painted in the
original "flat black" theme.
The deluxe factory interior was left fairly stock. I added a full factory gauge
cluster with factory tach. The stock seats were redone with larger bolsters, new
headliner, carpet and trim pieces.
The stock 351w was rebuilt with Eagle crank, Crower rods, Wiseco pistons, Comp
cam, Canton road race pan, Edelbrock Victor heads that were CNC ported then hand
finished. The Victor Jr. intake was also port matched and topped off with a 750
Speed Demon. This combo made 547hp.
Transmission is a 5spd TKO 600 with a QuickTime scattershield and Spec hydraulic
clutch set up.
Rear end is a DTS 9" with 3.89 gears, Mark Williams axles and a Detroit locker.
Suspension consists of de-arched rear leafs in rear, Global West upper and lower
arms, strut bars and coil springs up front.
Wheels are Fikse FM 5 18x8.5f 18x10r with BFG KD's245/40/18f
295/35/18r
I built this car to match my '69 Camaro.
