So close. But I like that your making sure the car done right. Everything really needs to be perfect. Where will you going to for the mile runs? Ohio mile? I would love to see this car attack a 1.5 mile.

I would make the trip to Maine to see you run this car. I would guess you could go over 200 easy.
|
I would be very disappointed if it couldn't hit 200 in the mile. I would think there would have to be something wrong... The half mile run in august should give me a good idea of what to expect.
If I head to Maine I will post it here. |
WoW JUST WOW!!!!!!!! That is killer good luck and I know your gonna have blast!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :popcorn2:

How is August looking? |
August is looking bad. Fabrication guy is off on knee surgery (not his fault, and I wish him a speedy recovery) and the car will now sit 2 to 3 weeks. When this car hits a shop, it's like it's doomed to sit and wait. I'm very frustrated, and ready to pull my hair out, but all I can do is call weekly and wait patiently.

I have an update. ITS ALIVVVEEEEEE!!! :woot:
I will post the dyno vid as soon as I figure out how. |

Steve Morris always seems like one of the nicest guys in his videos. I would bet his dyno has more 4 digit pulls on it than any other.
The car looks and sounds great! Congrats on a big step! |
Steve Morris and all his staff are super friendly, very customer oriented and he would even call me over to show me different things around the shop or just to chat as I hung out there for a couple days. I was trying to stay out of the way and it was nice to see some of the other projects. I was there as they were getting project sickseconds getting ready for drag week. 2 worked on it as 2 guys worked on my car. They worked on my car again Saturday even though they aren't normally open. My wife and I headed to Traverse City Friday night. Steve gave me his cell # and after calling him Saturday he sent me a couple pics of what they were working on. By early afternoon he headed out for drag week. I came back 2 weeks later to pick up the car after the dyno run.
I made all my power steering lines this weekend and some other little tidbits. I just like starting it to check things and not having to get a neighbour help push it back in the garage. Some things are just loosely run for testing and I will tidy it up over winter. Everything also needs a good dusting. http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps69f43955.jpg http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps9b0dfcf9.jpg http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps6a2e515c.jpg And my new CSU carb. Is carburetor a dirty word nowadays? http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps708fa38e.jpg http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...psa0b5fc99.jpg |
That RS second gen better step up big time at SEMA because the way I see it, this car deserves the un****withable title. Congrats on the steps forward.

WOW 39 pages of The BADDEST BUILD ! CONGRATS !
|
:brix: Congrats man, I love everything about this car. I have followed the build, but can't for the life of me remember what transmission you put in it. I assume TH400? I don't think I saw 4L80???
Bravo man, Bravo!!!!! |

The trans is a 4l80e built by Rossler to handle my motor including full throttle shifts into overdrive (normally the weak link). He installed clutch plates that were thinner and weren't on the market at the time of the build so more could be installed. To be safe he asked me to at the point of the shift to pull a bit of timing for a split second. This way I also have a lock up converter. With a 3.0 gear and 7000rpm I have a decent top end. |

Any updates on this amazing build. Hoping you were able to enjoy it last year.
|
I had some new car glitches last year on its maiden voyage. One shorted out coil, grid, and ignition box all in one shot. MSD was good enough to offer to replace it even though I was past warranty without me even asking. By the time I got everything back it was winter and I had a basement to finish. Stay tuned if your interested, i should have updates soon! :)

|
We are interested. Glad go see updates coming!
|
In some ways it reminds me of the Roadsters Shop 1970 Camaro "Rampage" and is just as nice.http://s1064.photobucket.com
|
Looking forward to the updates. One of my favorite builds on Lat-G.
|
You coming to run Maine anytime soon?
