That's good to hear Greg, doing something this big you don't need any stress. You have a beautiful home and I love all the stone work around it.
Amazing views.

just awesome....

Hey Greg, are all of your landscaped areas irrigated? If so, I can't imagine the size of the water line feeding them! Are you on Rural water or a well?

I love that all of the outside stuff was wrapped up before winter, that is huge. Hope all of the trees survive the transplant.

syborg tt 12-02-2015 07:10 AM

The house is looking very nice and I love that you have snow already.

Thanks Todd! BTW - You could hunt just by sitting on the porch. Except that we're in the Sun Valley city limits - so no shooting is allowed.. but you would be blown away by the wildlife that sits just outside the yard (and is eating our yard).

Lance - City water.... The line that feeds the house is 2". The sprinkler system is mostly all drip irrigation buried. We did install a "vault" for the irrigation system in the event we'd need to add a "booster" pump. There is a 2 million gallon "tank" that sits up above us... but that water runs down to the main road - and then back up to us. For now - we don't need one but as more houses get built - it could reduce the pressure in the future.

Trees are guaranteed for one year... we paid a little insurance policy with the landscaping company for that. The one was the price of a built motor! LOL

We've had snow for a month! Skiing opened Thanksgiving day. We've certainly had to learn how to live in the mountains - and change all the dates of when we think we should switch to snow tires etc.... hahahahahahaha

The Jeter Dome is a Joke! He tore down 3 Beautiful Houses to build that "Big Box" 40,000 sf place. It only has Two 2-Car Garages

It looks terrible from Bayshore Blvd. He had a nice house 8 miles away

Vegas69 12-02-2015 06:20 PM

I bet you get a bunch of elk and mule deer. Watch out for the occasional lion.

RECOVERY ROOM 12-02-2015 07:42 PM

Just wondering if you heated the driveway or just going to plow

We get Elk -- Deer -- and Prong horns.... We actually had to protect the trees from them by covering the trunks and then also had to add some fencing around them. They were rubbing their horns on the bark and stripping it off -- and eating the leaves up as high as they could reach.

We chose not to heat the driveway... but I will take delivery of my new Diesel Bobcat 3650 with full enclosure - heat and A/C and stereo - and it's 62" snowblower attachment, next week. It'll hurl snow 40 feet... The driveway is 26' wide -- so it'll only take me about 4 passes to get it cleaned up.

I'll have to figure out how to hot rod it somehow!! The snow blower ONLY throw snow 40 feet... I'm sure it's got a 50% increase there with a few more RPM's. Hahahahahaha

waynieZ 12-03-2015 12:11 PM

you need a mans snow thrower!

Just remember you can scrap the paved driveway with the blower but be sure to raise it up a bit, when you hit the pavers.

KPC67 12-06-2015 10:19 AM

Beautiful home you are building there Greg.
Let me know if you want a hand removing snow? I will only require a tour of your place.

This is my snow removal device!

GregWeld 12-06-2015 11:29 AM

Kevin!! Bring that bad boy over -- that's like ONE pass and I'm done!! Supposed to snow every day this week.... so your timing is impeccable.

Yeah one pass should pretty much do it! It's 18 feet wide but only travels 26 MPH so.....

Thanks Trey!
We still have a few months before completion - but we have had a great time doing this project. We couldn't be happier.

But -- the company did bring me a "loaner" until mine gets here - which is just absolutely stellar customer service!! And I put the beast to some good use! I actually ran it for about 4 hours yesterday just getting acquainted with the operation and "pattern" needed. Of course I also cleaned the Cul D' Sac - and then the street on both sides a quarter of a mile - drove to the condo because Gwen had made me lunch - then drove to the Sinclair station because I'd used up half a tank of diesel.... LOL.

You get the "drift" on snow here - this is ONE DAY - it's supposed to snow every day this week....

Enjoy the new toy!

waynieZ 12-11-2015 07:32 PM

Is the snow light or wet? We usually get heavy wet snow.

SSLance 12-11-2015 08:23 PM

Just make sure you all don't click my build thread link... ;)

It's usually so light that people move it with a leaf blower -- but the other day it snowed and it was warm (33*) and the snow was heavy and wet, and slick, like Seattle snow....

The key here is that if you plow or blow or whatever - so that there's only a 1/2" on the ground - the sun comes out and melts and dries your driveway / walkway / patio so that only the landscaping is white. If you don't get it off - and you walk or drive on it - then it turns to ice.... and that sucks then.
