im looking at some smooth ford style steelies (gennies) possibly with some in 5x15 and 8x16 with 500-15 fibbed front and 1000-16 (dot slick) firestone dragster tires... not sure how horrible the handling would be thougt? |
I really like the new repro Artillery wheels in a contrastig color.....

I know you said low budget no bling.... but I still think any of the Billet Specialties Vintec Wheels on a 34-35 chevy / ford are just cool.

and those wheels look niiice, its just that if asked to choose id rather get the airride and steel wheels over qa1 coilovers and bling wheels.. but alloy wheels offer different tires and possibly better handling... im conflicted to say the least |

Something like this could be cool. Believe it or not, those are Daytons.

its a 4 way toss between them, bonneville style halibrands, some 5 spoke vintage and gasser style wheels (4.5X15-10x16 with firestone slicks/grooved fronts) |

Take it from a guy who beat his head against a wall about this very same problem on my old 32. My car was a very old school looking, car, with velocity stacks, hilborn, 40 ford steering wheel, and SoCal drilled front, etc. I ended up going with some cream powder coated Artillery wheels from The Wheel Smith. I'll post some photos for you. I knew going this route, I would have to run an "old school" looking tire, but I did not want the bias ply tires or Coker tires, I wanted a radial. SOOO, I went with Firestone "Destination LE's" in the rear, used black tire paint to get rid of the white letters. Sidwalls were otherwise very smooth, and fit the look, but now I had a radial tire that behaved a bit better on the freeway. I used a Firestone front tire, 195 wide as well. In hind sight, I would have rather put a set of NewGen Thrashers in polished on the car, in 15" front, and 17" rear. I think that would have looked better. It sounds like with the jag rear, etc, on your car, a set of understated, polished 5 spokes will fit your car. Go that route, and you'll be happier about it in the long run I think. Good luck, I'm a wheel guy... and do it for a living, and I even made the wrong decision on these. I mean, the Artillery wheels didn't look bad, I just think the 5 spokes would have looked better. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e9...d_Roadster.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e9..._Roadster2.jpg |

I personally .... really like the Artillery wheels for the old timey look....I do believe your roadster would look good with almost anything on it tho, even hubcaps!!!!..... NICE car ! For the money I think the artillery's look very good tho. I believe I may put those on my 65 chevy pickup...maybe....

Love this look!!
Artillery wheels are killer! Daytons? They go on mid '80s Cadillacs with teeny tiny tires that stick out beyond the fenders don't they?? |
