Congrats, cool car.
|
You have a budget for your next car Chris?
I'm trying very very hard to get one of my customers to give up his all original 32 ford roadster. He's 85 and has had it in his gargae for 50 years, but keeps thinking he's going to restore it. He's getting sorta close, but my dad really want's the car. I had another one in mind for you though, just don't know how much you want to spend. |
Found my next car!
Hello all,
Some of you know I recently sold my 68 Camaro because I was looking to reacquire another 68 Camaro that I had built that had sentimental value to me. Well, that did not work out but I was able to find a car that I think I will be very happy with. I just bought Jeff Skelton's 64 Chevelle. This car was posted on lateral-g in nearly finished form about a year ago. Since then, it was finished and has had some additional work done. It is much more of a show car than the Camaro but that is OK with me at this time. The car has only been shown twice, both shows in SoCal. At any rate, here are some quick specs on the car: Drive Train -ZZ4 355 V-8 with Twin Turbo -Twin RayJay T4 Turbochargers -Intercooler -BBK Power Plus Fuel Injection System -Edelbrock Aluminum Heads -Aluminum Intake Manifold -Polished Aluminum Valve Covers -Twin K&N Filters -Custom Aluminum Radiator -Chrome Powermaster Alternator -MSD Distributor -MSD Blaster Coil -MSD Ignition System -MSDPlugWires -Hi-Torque Starter -Polished Water Pump -Polished Sanden Air Conditioning Compressor -Saginaw 605 Power Steering Box -Custom Steel Flowmaster Exhaust System Transmission -Tremec T56-6 Speed Manual Transmission -Centerforce Clutch Assembly -Hydraulic Clutch -Custom Transmission Pan -Custom Driveshaft -Custom Transmission Tunnel -10 Bolt Rear End -3.36 Gears Exterior -2 Stage Viper Red Paint (painted with Spies-Heckler paint) -Antiglare Windshield -Chrome Wipers -Tinted Glass -Chrome Side Mirrors -Chrome Front Bumper -Chrome Front Grille -Chrome Rear Bumper -Stock Rear Lights -Halogen Headlights Interior -Custom Black Front & Rear Seats With Red Stitching -Black Suede Headliner -Black Suede Sun Visors -Black Suede Door Panels -Black Side & Kick Panels -Black Rear Shelf -Black Wool Carpets -Fisher Carpet Rocker Panel Trim -Stock Dash With Custom Black Leather Trim -Custom Black Instrument Cluster -Billet Specialties Steering Wheel -Autometer Gauges -Lokar Pedals -Custom Shifter -Polished Billet Knobs & Controls -Power Windows -Clarion CD Head Unit -Custom Speaker System Suspension -Air Ride Technology Front & Rear Airbags -Custom Air Ride Billet Front Shocks -KYB Rear Shocks -Remote Air Bag Control Panel -On Board Air Suspension Tank -On Board Air Suspension Compressor Wheels, Tires & Brakes -20x10.5 Billet Specialties Rear Wheels -18x7 Billet Specialties Front Wheels -Continental Sport Contact 2 ‘Z’ Rated Tires -Slotted & Drilled Rotors -Vented Front Disc Brakes -Rear Disc Brakes -Baer Calipers Also, here are some recent pictures of the car. Like before, you will need to click on any one of these pictures to start a slide show of 5 X 8 pictures then you can click on any one picture to see it full screen. http://www.fototime.com/inv/3AD591C35640087 At present the car makes about 600 HP with it's Tom Nelson built, twin turbo 355 SBC running at 5 PSI. Tom forged all of the internals so I plan to kick up the PSI to about 7 and then be set. Take care, Chris |
who bought your old camaro? they got a website?
so is this car for sale now or are you just sharing what you got?:) |
Keeping this car for a while
Matt,
Hey. Hope you are well. No, this car is not for sale. It is not even at my house yet!. It arrives Monday afternoon. I plan to keep this car for a bit. And, you have a PM about the silver and black Camaro. Chris |

awesome, well enjoy your new ride, it looks badass. I just picked this beauty up, needs some work, but it will be my next pro-touring project. Oh and it's #'s matching.:D http://www.fototime.com/%7B070C49D7-...7D/picture.JPG |
Matt,
Very cool. Nice choice. Because it is a numbers car do you plan to keep your mods to a minimum? Chis |
Quote:
yes, to a minimum. Thinking of pulling the engine/tranny out and putting it in storage. Id like to put a twin turbo setup in it. but here is my major debate-- 1) I want a Tremec 5 speed 2) I want to mini-tub it Im going for this look/stance-- http://www.fototime.com/%7B1A925889-...7D/picture.JPG do you think either of the above mods would kill its value? |
Value
Matt,
Cut a 69 Charge 500? They built less than 500 of those cars, they are more Daytonas than 500s I think the Mopar guy's might not be to happy to see 1 made better than stock, but then again most of then are stuck in the '70s. But if you decide not to cut it up the 500 I've got a line on a real nice 69 383 2 barrel Charger. All that said yes changing a 69 500 will kill its value or limit who would want to buy it, but it is your car have fun with it, enjoy. Kevin |

yea, I guess I needed to hear it from someone else. All ill do I guess is yank the motor and tranny, rebuild it to be fairly stout, and leave it alone and cruise it. |
Charger 500
Matt,
You can do bolt on's like tires, wheels, brakes and suspension upgrades that will improve the car's performance without cutting. I know that you can fit 295/35/18's in the rear fenders on 10" wheels with a little work (rear spring relocation). Personally I dig 500's and would like to someone build one out. Kevin |
Modding the 500
Matt,
Kevin is much more the expert here, he is in the car biz. And, I agree with him. That was the basis for my original question about keeping your mods to a minimum. All that said, it is your car and your choice. If it were me, I would keep it bone stock. Just my opinion. Chris |
cool, I may just do that. here are some more pics, picking it up next saturday in Tempe, Az.

http://www.fototime.com/%7B86281862-...7D/picture.JPG http://www.fototime.com/%7BC51B3F95-...7D/picture.JPG By no means is it perfect, but it is in great shape for sitting for so many years in a garage. Id like to put 17" or 18" wheels on it, yet not really hack on the suspension. how do you think 17" Magnum 500's would look on the car? |
the 500
Matt,
The car looks really good. Has that classic car, original, unmolested look. That is great. As for wheels and tires, photo shop a few choices and then decide. But, like you said, do not hack the suspension or go too big and rub the body. That car is pretty rare, very original and you want to keep it in good shape. Chris |

yea, id like to go Magnum 500's, 17" or 18", but i suck at photoshop so ill have to use my imagination:lol: |
Let's see some pictures of the car at it's new home.
Or were you just tire kicking? |

That is too bad
This guy, uses the name Matt, has sent me several PM's about my 68 Camaro. both before I sold it and since it has been at the dealer who bought it. Seemed like a legitimate guy.
