With a name like ''Rusty', it fits that car lol!!!
Man, you must really be desperate or is there a sentimental value to this car? Talk about a lot of work.... :willy: Whew! Keep on patchin! It'll all be worth it someday! Lead. |

Brian has the windshield posts and front door jamb finished. Today he sanded and epoxy primed the next step is to install the new dash.

The patchwork that has been going into this car is unbelievable!
|
....curious to figure out the manhours vs starting with a cleaner car's price/value? Now and in the end.

The major bodywork is finished on the cowl. I just need to prime and block sand a couple of times. We are waiting for the apron to cowl extensions to come in than I will epoxy prime.

Looks awesome Rusty. Keep up the great work.
|
It may not look like it but Brian plug welded the fender apron extensions to the cowl and than I epoxy primed.

Some real quality work, looks great...
|
Really nice work, man but c'mon...that car was not rusty. My car was rusty...

Keep it up. Your work is an inspiration when I desperately need it. |

I have flush mount glass kits coming out for these 64-68 Mustang's, and when working with the cars, I like the 65-66 much better than the 67-68. I am not sure why the later brings more money, it has some odd lines and proportions.

We have a new rear panel so Brian removed the old one. This will save a lot of time.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/282.jpg After the panel was removed he had to make a patch for the front trunk floor http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/283.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/284.jpg After Brian cleaned up the plug welds http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/285.jpg |
Tell Brian I enjoy seeing his work.
|
I feel your pain fastback.. this is what I started with..
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...0vert20021.jpg And ended with this... http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...EMAday1001.jpg |
Fitting the trunk floor and gas tank
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/288.jpg Next step was to test fit the quarters, taillight panel and deck lid. Once everything is lined up the trunk floor will be drilled and plug welded. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/289.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/290.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/291.jpg |
Excellent work
|
Now that the rear panels fit it is time to prep the frame rails. As Brian was cleaning the front trunk floor he found a few rust pin holes. He cut out the bad area and made three patches one at a time to keep it from warping the edge that hangs down.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/292.jpg Brian ground all the welds on the patch than brushed a heavy coat of epoxy in the frame rails http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/293.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/299.jpg |
Left side trunk floor welded to the rear frame rail
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/300.jpg New rear panel with package tray test fitted and also the quarters and taillight panel installed before the rear crossmember is welded. We wanted to make sure everything lines up in the rear before the rear crossmember is installed. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/302.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/303.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/304.jpg Rear crossmember welded to the trunk floor and rear frame rail http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/305.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/306.jpg Rear trunk floor prepped for epoxy primer http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/307.jpg Epoxy primed http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/308.jpg |
Brian started patching the right quarter and roof inner structure
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/309.jpg The outer structure was removed so he can repair the rust under it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/315.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/316.jpg Brian made the first patch http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/317.jpg |
Brian made a few patches than cleaned everything and epoxy primed

Wow, thats a big job! Nice work!
|
Looks like someone is having fun:)
|
Brian has to make or patch the inner structure since it is not available.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/330.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/332.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/334.jpg Next epoxy before making another patch http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ustang/336.jpg |
Beautiful fab Work. This stuff always amazes me.
|
Yep, very nice work....Altough i still dont get it lol!!! I went back to read (quickly) but did not find what is the plan with this car? Is it only built to show the capability of the shop posting up or ??
Except for pics i seldom see comments about it or even anwsers to questions.... I can see it is getting back to now! My hat off to the courage it takes to WANT to bring that back. Any estimate of the manhours invested so far? Lead. |
