Nice build, busy shop looks like alot going on.

We have made some serious progress in the past week while I was on the road at Good Guys Pleasanton and the Super Chevy Suspension Shoot Out. It is always good to come back from a week on the road and see a lot of progress.

Both quarters have been completely installed and both inner fenders have been completed. All of the metal work to get the car back to a solid starting point has been wrapped up, so we can now move on to the custom fabrication.

We fabbed up the louvers for the stock hood to give it a little better look.

http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...cture21316.jpg

Cut the stock "gills" out of the quarters and have begun the new inset scoop look.

A few shots of the new gills/ fins that will go into the quarter opening.

Started with rough cut aluminum

http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...cture21368.jpg

Then began cleaning up and radiusing the edges

http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...cture21370.jpg

Once the shape was finalized, we went back and subtly curved the pieces to match the curve of the body.

I like all the changes. The hood louvers look sweet.

randy 09-02-2011 05:53 PM

love the hood. Wonder how they would look on the side of a cowl hood

Jay Hilliard 09-03-2011 06:24 PM

Very nice work guys. I like the louvers on the SS hood, but also like the idea of louvers on side of a cowl hood. I picture something to the effect of the louvers on a 66 big block vette hood. Functional louvers of course

coolwelder62 09-03-2011 06:32 PM

tones2SS 09-06-2011 05:33 PM

Awesome work. Love the ideas going into this car.
Those hood louvers look 100% better.

A little more progress on the Camaro.

We have finished up the gills in the 1/4's.

We have also begun the fab work on the rear spoiler.

Initial shape layout and beginning to fab the rear face of the spoiler to get an idea on the rear cut out.

I don't know I'm not feeling the spoiler, maybe when it's finished. Are you going to do anything with the rear body panel under the rear bumper?? I am going to redo mine and would love to see it. Also I see Jim's Eldo next to the Camaro :unibrow:

Rick, we weren't sure on the rear spoiler either so that was put on hold while we address the rear body panel. We are back on the spoiler now and have made some changes.

Here is the work on the rear body panel/lower valance

It is basically completed at this point. Some minor welding and metal finishing left do do and then on to the custom exhaust tips.

Started back in on the spoiler today. Changed the width of the opening, changed the angle and height of the shape as well.

anouther killer car coming down the pipe line... I'm sure this one will come along just as fast amazing work guys!

RS-Chris 10-05-2011 06:44 AM

A couple of updates now the spoiler is wrapped up. The aim with this piece was to keep a stock 'appearing' spoiler with just enough of a subtle difference to make you look twice!

I can't speak for these other guys, but I love the spoiler. Hell, I love anything RS does. :hail: :hail:

Nice to see the effort to do an old school bolt-on look. So much of the current style is to mold and smooth and blend (which is great, but this is even cooler).

Jeff-

We agree- we ruled out smoothing the spoiler into the body almost straight away. While it has its place, it's just not for the look of this car.

Jr 10-05-2011 09:49 AM

The spoiler is looking awesome.

Did you build the spoiler for looks, or are you trying to achieve a more aerodynamic rear for this car?

RS-Chris 10-05-2011 10:10 AM

Its really just for looks.
Although if it helps the aerodynamics, we will absolutely claim to have planned it...!

A little more progress on the Camaro. Just finished up the fabricating the exhaust tips. Stripped and metal finished the rear bumper and finished a few loose ends on the lower valance.

I'd really like to see " y'all" try and fabricate a few pieces instead of just bolting on whatever you can get out of a catalog :D

tmadden 10-16-2011 05:40 AM

That is just plain Bad Azz!!!

Hey, JC Whitney has some pretty cool stuff!

Roll Tide!

6D9 Matt 11-09-2011 01:39 PM

Wow... this is a nice build. And that spoiler is BEAUTIFUL!

Great work... keep it up!

A couple more updates on some of the details on the car -

Tucking and shaping the front bumper to fit with the fenders and grille opening.

Fabrication of a new front spoiler to compliment the Marquez front valance. Also with the same theme as other areas of the car with a factory-ish silhouette but with a more modern and updated feel to the details.

Wow!!! Awesome work.

69Pressurized 11-16-2011 03:26 PM

Very nice job on the rear lower valance. That is often an area that is overlooked on custom builds.

Teetoe_Jones 11-16-2011 03:47 PM

Great metal work and very tasteful mods. I'd like to see you guys make the louvers in the factory SS hood be an actual intake/filter that goes into a Kinsler manifold.

Great stuff guys. The tucked in bumper looks awesome.
