We knew going into it that since we had a custom wider radiator built for the car, and we moved the radiator forward to gain extra room, the stock hideaway headlights would not fit. The original headlight doors would pivot 90 degrees and sit beside the headlights when open. We re-designed the headlight door to slide behind the grille now and be operated off of actuators. (I'll get better pics of the mechanism once the header panel is removed in the next day or two.

The original headlight door is on the bottom, the new version is on the top.

Vegas69 12-29-2011 03:57 PM

How are you going to latch the hood?:unibrow:

Good question. But, however it's done, I know it will be ingenious.

Kendall Burleson 12-30-2011 07:13 AM

cool stuff:thumbsup:

Roadster Shop 12-30-2011 07:38 AM

DJW - We did build the core support. We needed to move the radiator ahead and wanted to use a wider radiator than any of the aftermarket units allowed for.

Doom - This car doesn't have an original style hood latch. It uses hood pin latches so they will be mounted to the sides of the core support

Time for some updates: The custom intercooler arrived this week so we can now finish the plumbing for the turbo's.

http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture221316.jpg

The intercooler was mounted below the radiator and designed to fit perfectly between the frame rails.
http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture221397.jpg

http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture221394.jpg

The start of a custom overflow that we machined to fit inside the core support and stay out of sight.
http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture221396.jpg

Love the spot for the overflow canister. Great work guys.

Roadster Shop 02-10-2012 02:16 PM

Further work on the plumbing for the turbos and intercooler.

http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture221588.jpg

http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture221590.jpg

http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture221592.jpg

http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture221594.jpg

Fabbed up some fender braces to tie into the new core support. These will eventually tie into the custom radiators that will tuck in behind each headlight and cool the water and alcohol for the intercooler.

Thanks! I believe they are using matching turbo's now. This car was originally built before they were available.
