exwestracer 02-09-2013 08:15 AM

Nice piece, Scott!

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but are you using a curved sway bar arm? I ask because the bar tube seems pretty close to the height of the LCA mounts.
http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...vellexv011.jpg
Any pics of the bar "mocked" up in there with the end links, etc?

coolwelder62 02-09-2013 10:38 AM

The center of the sway bar is 1.25 higher than the LCA mount center. And I bent the splined sway bar arm so there is no binding with 1/2 rod end links.

Exceptional welds! What welder was that little rug-rat using?

BBC71Nova 02-18-2013 07:10 AM

This is a good looking frame. Kinda glad I've still got the OEM sub since I have more options by waiting. The punch/flare would go great with the look I'm after. :)

Couple questions...

1. Is the hub-to-hub dimension of this setup the same as OEM? Trying to understand what, if anything, is to be considered when it comes to wheel/tire fitment. A little narrower than my current setup would be added benefit with my setup.

2. Will there be tabs front and rear of the LCA mounting locations to put them in double-shear?

Hub face w/o rotors is 60.5.The LCA will be in double shear. The rear lower brackets are finished just not in the photo. We are still working the frt bracket to hold the LCA and the rack & pinion bolts also in double shear. In a few days Kevin should have frame all finished up and assembled for everyone too see the final product.

coolwelder62 02-21-2013 07:56 PM

Well gang Kevin is all but finished with the fab workon his sub frame of the new design.A few lighting holes to drill then off too the powder coater

coolwelder62 02-21-2013 08:16 PM

I think the new design turn out great.Kevin did an awesome job.It ended up being a few pound's lighter,a whole lot stiffer,And look's Outstanding.and working on it togather was fun.Now it's time to start working on that alum unit.:G-Dub:

efs69 02-28-2013 06:27 PM

WOW! That is some nice stuff you guys are doing.

Rhino 02-28-2013 07:32 PM

I like your solution for mounting the rear of the LCA in double sheer while still allowing clearance for most headers.
Out of curiosity why bolt it in rather than weld it?

Ketzer 02-28-2013 07:35 PM

How much lighter is this than a stock sub?

Jeff-

Jeff-

My stock sub is outside under 23.6 inch's of snow.So will a little bit until I can bring it in and weigh it up.

bret 02-28-2013 08:09 PM
