Tuning in to see more. I am with JIm, I bounce between here and the truck site too.
This site is making me want to do a car of some type, just not sure what to build since I have too many that I like. I really want a 67-72 C10 to complete my "set" of the C10 body styles. |
few more for today..
http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps47be011e.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...pse10fe6bb.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...psa40e5aaf.jpg Justin decided he wanted a cool detail to run the perimeter of the engine bay, so he came up with this belt-line. It will run along the inner fender wells as well as the core support cover. |
Most people want to win the lottery not me I just want to win this truck.
ps - Great work guys and Brycen it was good talking to you at Sema. What size shirt are you so I can get you one. |
Here you can see where the kick panel is moved forward 5 inches. This really makes a difference with leg room.

Chassis was finished up this week. Finally got around to setting it on.
The Goodguys trailer mandated that the overall height on the truck be no taller than 57". Right now we are sitting at 57.5" Once we chop the truck it will put us right where it needs to be. Here it is sitting on a set of mock up rims. Enjoy the pics. http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps66564a10.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...psedf7cb1e.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...psff6a723f.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps7fa579ad.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps0dfa4997.jpg |
Awesome build...look forward to seeing more of the great work from your very talented team there.

Motor went in today. Although this wheel and tire combo is about an inch shorter than what will be used, this still gives us an idea of how close to the final ride height we are. Right now, 57" to the roof.
We're going to be trimming and redoing the rockers and bed lowers for ground clearance. It'll look great when it's done. http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps285ec25d.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...pse9a7070a.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...psae2dc394.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...pse2885d11.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...psc66d98b4.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...pse1403beb.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps20933e22.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps0c1d7e8b.jpg |

It's looking really good guys. One question, have you checked the turning radius with the foot area extended? My guess is you have really limited yourself unless you moved the cab on the chassis or moved the spindles forward on your chassis. I would really like to know if this works since I'm taller than average! :D
Again, looks awesome! |

of the wheels are moved forward 1 inch from stock. We do this on our c-10 chassis and our c-10 ifs kits. This will center the front wheel into the fender. |

Right now the guys are setting up the ground clearance. The rockers are being trimmed and remade, ad the rear of the cab is being redone too.
http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...psc7586179.jpg You can see just how much we are taking out of the rocker. Seems like a lot, but it'll really not be noticeable when it's all finished. http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...psa9e217f1.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps0e5927f5.jpg |
http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps7dcb404f.jpg
The body will sit level with the frame when it's finished. All said and done, it will give us our 4" of ground clearance that we need. Here's a better view of the rocker. It'll be finished with a sheet metal cap and shaped correctly. http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps2ddb2581.jpg |
I can't wait to see this one finished.
|
Not the best of pics cause the cars pretty low on the ground, but here's a pretty much finished rocker.

Absolutely love this style truck!!!! This is gonna be a bad ass build for sure!!! Gotta keep my eye out to win this!!!!
|
Here's a quick look at it before it's finished. You can see how the rear window stays full size, and how the windshield is leaned back. The dash isn't affected so long as the pillars are relieved correctly. Getting close...

Man I hope I win this truck !!!

Killer work you guys are doing on this. |
Awesome.

In total, the windshield is laid back 2-3/4" and the total chop is 1-3/4". In the earlier pictures the windshield wasn't fully laid back yet. Here's the final height.
http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps050c37c0.jpg Once the welding and cutting started to happen, it was apparent that some more rust repair needed to be done. Since that was happening anyhow, Justin decided to take out the hard edge and smooth it out a bit. Here's some more pictures. http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...psff42db1e.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps2146a77f.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...pse26cf9a3.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...psdc01674e.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...psaf00da8f.jpg |
Here's a few good shots of the improved transition. The corners will be reshaped along with the doors to follow the new body line.

very nice work, this truck will be very nice
|
Here's a few more for today.
The doors are being fitted as well as a quick mock up of the front sheet metal. The metal work on the fenders placed the core support a little too far back, so we'll fix that and it should be good to start raising the wheel wells a bit. I really like the core support. It mocked up really nice and will give the truck a clean look. http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps1e1ef894.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps1c0604e7.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps750a8228.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps210b5ec5.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...psde314b9e.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps9f1971e8.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps5e625d56.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...psbb15fc6c.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps76b47858.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...psbb4e66ce.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps1e3e66c9.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...psa416ee6b.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps89388dd2.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...psfe0d0f10.jpg |
Nice core support. It is all cool.
|
|
You can see in the pic that the top corner on the door is rounded off from the factory square corner that comes on these doors stock. This adds a nice look when the drip rail is removed

for those of you that are thinking it. It is the shadow of the lip on the pillar that make the gap look uneven although it is the same. |
When you do the final TIG welding on something like that windshield header, how long is your average pull ? Judging by the HAZ it looks like you only go about 1-2" at a time. Is that about right ? Just fill in between a tack or two ?
|
Oh man. I have my truck sitting outside my shop and wanna build it so bad now. This truck is sick
|
Awesome build guys

With that being said I don't necessarily stick to going tack to tack as sometimes that is to long of a pass. I mainly try to have short and very consistent heat affect zones, as this keeps the warping and pulling to a minimum and makes for a easier time metal finishing. Also, if the piece is cut in correctly and you have near zero gap as I do that drastically reduces warping along with my welding process. OK I'll stop |
The drivers side is coming along nicely..
http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps5aa9a8ef.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps9444add6.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...pse9acdfdc.jpg The rear peak is being removed and our roof kit is being installed. http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps875ef536.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps14f0b0f6.jpg |
http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps390c9858.jpg
http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps2b1c27c0.jpg http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps6f84e069.jpg The last picture gives you a good idea of just how much peak get's removed. |
DO you just spot every inch, grind, and then good to go or do you spot the entire seem? Thanks
