Yup, I get asked that too... or they try to go around and ask my wife (she knows better). If my shop is going to be full, it's going to be full of MY sh!t, not storage for someone else's. (I could tell a funny story about a fancy "chenille chase lounger" that got stored in my workshop....:underchair: )

BUT, like you GW, I'm all for a buddy bringing a project out that we are going to work on now. Active projects are definitely the exception.

I flew ROB (FETornio) over so I could get some blurry shots of the progress...

Painting is still not complete --- and the windows and eyebrow shed roofs will then go over the windows -- but this is the general idea.

Likin' them barn planks GW.

Looking good sir!

GregWeld 05-06-2014 10:00 PM

My foreman takes TERRIBLE photos ----- but this is the corrugated metal that is going on the walls in the "tool area" and along the back wall up to 10' height...

It's a very heavy gauge corrugated -- not the Home Depot variety that someone would buy for a shed roof.

It will give me good shop walls -- that won't be looking beat up 5 years down the road -- I can hang stuff right to it.... and or wash off something splashed without making a mess of a painted wall.

These would contrast the wall surface nicely.

Gawd, look at all the dies! He definitely makes some of the nicest profiles/dies.

I sold them on "if you do good work for a good price you might be able to work oh my house build".... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA SUCKERS!

The job is being run by my home builder -- Lee Gilman --

http://www.leegilman.com

so they are using their subs as quickie fill work. Most of the guys live down near the shop so they can do this job quickly and easily. It's a pretty straight forward deal.

GregWeld 05-08-2014 03:18 PM

Crap photos -- but it's the best I'm going to get out of them....

The BIG ASS FAN mounted but not completed yet (the yellow thing) === AND the 3rd new heater -- running lengthwise so it clears the BIG ASS FAN BLADES (12' in diameter). AND now you can see the new high bay lighting and what a difference it makes!

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...ng/Pmay8-3.jpg

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...ng/Pmay8-4.jpg

The new wall with door opening from the "man area" to the storage loft. This will get a custom built barn doors -- made of barn wood and the corrugated metal -- and slide on a barn door style bar. I ordered some pretty cool roller assembly that looks like gears... Sadly in this crappy photo you can't see what they look like -- but they're gears with lightening holes in them.

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...ng/Pmay8-6.jpg

There are two man doors out the back -- they were kinda filthy and grey so they're now black and trimmed out.... and the YELLOW safety railing upstairs is now satin black....

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...ding/Pmay8.jpg

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...ng/Pmay8-2.jpg

So compare to the OLD......

Might be able to get some aerodynamic testing done with that fan. :morepower

camcojb 05-08-2014 04:23 PM

Love that shop Greg.

GregWeld 05-08-2014 05:39 PM

Thanks Jody!!

Here's the page for the barn door roller system --- hope this is correct -- they look like gears with lightening holes in them... in black.

It only produces 300 ft lbs of torque....

It creates a breeze but it's not high speed --- it's very subtle.... it moves big volume but not at high speeds so no wind tunnel testing unfortunately! LOL

CamaroMike 05-08-2014 05:58 PM

Looks great so far, couldnt do it any better myself!

Too bad...you wouldn't have to sweep, you could just open the doors and turn that sucker on!
Just playin.....

That is so nice and your're gonna love those infrared heaters.
I'm so jealous. :hail:

Sieg 05-08-2014 08:11 PM

Looking really good GW

Hopefully they Loctited those BAF mounting bolts. :D

You're going to need one of these to punch paper with in the winter: http://www.airgundepot.com/rws-350-combo-22.html

Long as the neighbors don't mind the noise. The RWS air rifles are accurate and relatively quiet practice. All you need is a pellet trap in the shop. :D

It is weird how certain things can give a guy a 40 year "flashback" in time.

Kinda Creepy

GregWeld 05-09-2014 03:47 PM

Okay NOW Basher can be happy! The BAF is finally installed!!!

Now you can see the difference in the way it's all coming together. I think I'm going to have to pony up and have the painter do all the trusses in black.... then it would really be "weldized"

Ok.......that fan is just flat out bitchen!

Black trusses would be real cool too but would they show more dust than blue if that's a concern?

Ketzer 05-09-2014 05:11 PM

I like the contrast of the blue.

Jeff-

raustinss 05-09-2014 05:39 PM

Okay -- they're staying blue. I'd rather spend money on my cars so I can keep up with Charley.

rickpaw 05-09-2014 05:45 PM

New shop is coming together great.

Does the AR in the Pelican case have Seekins Precision upper/lower? If so how do you like them. I'm thinking about getting a matched set.

Yes Tu ---- Seekins BILLET upper and lower - Noveske barrel - Gieselle trigger. And you're asking the wrong guy about gun parts. I own 'em but I don't know much about 'em.

I will tell you that I took my sons AR and my new AR (the one you're asking about) to the range yesterday. My gun is a Rolls Royce... hardly any kick -- silky smooth... jam free (even with the 50 round mag)... Alex's kicks - sounds nasty... trigger feels all wrong...

DBasher 05-09-2014 06:12 PM

From the last picture of the BAF I had thought they gave you the mini me version with stubby lil T-Rex blades! It's pretty cool how well those work at such a slow speed.
Air lines, boiler?, some electrical for all the signage a final sweep and you'll be set! How's that black toilet coming along?:peepwall:

Place is lookin real sharp GDubya!

Dan

Hahahahahaha --- yeah without the blades it was pretty sad looking.

I see they've started the copper lines for the mixer valve on the back wall now that the steel is up. I wanted hot water - and lots of it - to wash the big truck with. So I had them just make a mixer valve with some stainless plumbing and some ball valves -- the feed lines are 1" each....

There is lots of power going in and "MY" chest level -- all duplex (4 plugins per box) with split feed - so 20 amp separate circuit per duplex box. And yes -- so real high up the wall versions for "Stuff".

Foreman said 3 more weeks and she's done. PERFECT.

Ron in SoCal 05-09-2014 06:44 PM

Looks killer Greg. Seriously, all great design features and a fantastic place to do whatever the hell you want...

Wait til lthe local hot rodders find out lol

Flash68 05-09-2014 07:26 PM

That blue pops nicely! Black would just disappear compared to blue.... good call.

What a place. Too bad there's no good company to keep there.

Sieg 05-09-2014 07:41 PM

Black would contrast the BAF quite nicely though.

The shop is looking fantastic! Do you think a house is even necessary? - - you're going to be at the shop all the time anyway! ;)

If it was just me Brandon.... I'd just sleep in the Toter inside the shop... Who needs anything more than that!?!? Gwen seems to have different "needs" than I do in that regards... Woman suck! LOL
