I'm using the plus. If you go back and read my earlier post in this thread you will see how I am using their dolly, as well.

I've had my AutoTwirler plus now for almost 5 years. I can't imagine doing this type of work any other way. They also sell Camaro specific brackets.:thumbsup:

My subframe is welded to my subframe connectors, so removing sub is something I dont want to do. What would be to use to roll around body with attached subframe? The standard body cart or something else?

Jay, you can attach the autotwirler dolly at the rocker pinchwelds...then have the back of the car supported by the rotisserie (or, another dolly)....

Thanks RWhite. I called Scott at Autotwirler and the standard body cart will work with a subframe attached for a car dolly and the rotisserie will work as well.

Edit: BTW, Scott told me he has lowered the Auto Plus by $100.00. The lower cost is not on the website yet. Also he has different Camaro mounts that are 4.5" long that allows 69 rear valance to clear rotisserie better.

For the DIY guys out there who don't plan on doing 20 cars make your OWN.

Go to harbor freight or pep boys buy 2 engine hoists, cost sub 400.00 easy I plan on useing the 99.00 per HF ones. Cut them up add some stock steel and you have you self a DIY rotisserie.

Plans using hoists and other DIY ideas are all over the net. No disrespect to the two manufactures mentioned but for the cost conscious 1.5-2k is better spent on the car not the tool.

What do you guys think of this one?

XLexus, believe me, I had planned to weld one up. I have done a lot of welding so I know exactly what it would take to do it. I was at the goodguys show, eyeballing the Autotwirler rotisserie and taking a couple of pictures.

Later, while I was talking with someone else, My wife went back to the Autotwirler guys, and ordered one for me. Yep, she is a keeper.

In retrospect, I'm really glad that she did, since my free time these days is quite limited. In my case, more often than not, it's TIME saved, that is better spent on the car.

No one is going to build the equal of an Autotwirler for $400, using new steel. The Autotwirler Deluxe costs $1100.

It can certainly be done for your proposed $400 and maybe even less, if you are getting the steel at scrap yard prices (as I was going to do) or for free, etc...if you have the connections, time and patience to find it all.

Another great option is to find a rotisserie that someone no longer needs, they do pop up from time to time.
