We just did a 69 Camaro with a blown 541 engine with over 850HP and its insaine but I think the cars are so much better to drive with a worked LS1-LS2_LS7, you can get 700HP out of the small block on pump gas and people will not believe that you have that kind of power in a small engine. We are building another 69 Camaro right now with a built LS1 and twin turbo that will kill any big block on the road for the most part. I can send you some pics if you email me. So over all and for effect go big block if you want raw power but if you want to blow peoples minds go small block built up it will get much more attention and handle better because of the weight.

I am with Scott, all aluminum 540. complete motor 425LBS, so it is light, and serious power potential. With a baby 114 LC smooth idleing 255 cam, only 630 lift, with little bitty 310CC heads, we made 684HP at 6400RPMs and started the pull at 3000RPMs and was 610 torque and held over 600 the entire pull. And those are not big numbers for a 540CI. With a set of AFR and a nice hydraulic roller, you can see 700 docale horsepower you can drive. Coming from someone that knows a thing or two about hard chargeing pump gas small blocks (my street racer goes mid 10s on motor at full weight, I can also tell you to make that power it has some serious camshaft in it. The differnce in Michaels 540 and my 404 is night and day for driveabilty. My 400 sounds like somehitng is wrong with it cruising around and it does not clear out to 4000RPMS, LOL! the 540 purrs at 2000 in overdrive.

I'll have to take you up on that "stop by anytime" offer. Maybe in a few weeks when it starts warming up. I'm in SA till August sometime so i'll be around. I've seen your car a few times at TWS and seen you walk by but was always in a rush to get back on corner.

This car is not a car I built from scratch like the others, I just thought, while he's got it apart, I might as well upgrade the motor. I would have to get another subframe or modify the stock one to accept a LS series motor. I really need to decide if I want to go BB or SB.. fesler, you have built some killer cars and I understand where your coming from, but your cars are in a different league than my '71. Here is a picture of my 1400hp hot rod, it's insane.. thanks everybody for your input, SW http://www.fototime.com/C35E7C808898222/orig.jpg |

GM performance crate engine. 502/502 got one in a '70 Camaro that I bracket race. Shift at 5600. This engine is like an anvil. I think it is around 570 ft. lbs
