And it's red. Finally red. We put on four coats of the Kosmos red the first day, then 3 more after a thorough night's dry out on the second. Everything sprayed out perfectly and my guys made me a jewel. In the pics, it's a pretty red. In the sun, it's stupid bright. Like looking at a neon sign. The white base was worth it to say the least. Here it is in the booth.
http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/p...psa9bb7432.jpg http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps72d3541d.jpg Once home, we split it off the chassis an disassembled the components. The frame is headed to powder and the rear end to a rebuild in the morning. Gotta get all the suspension ordered ASAP! http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps1bb5b2df.jpg http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps3e4d12be.jpg |

Now get that NABB in there.:D |
That looks great!!! Very red!!
|
How long was this car in paint? I'm starting to not feel so bad!
|
paint looks great, gone to be a super nice Chevelle:thumbsup:
|
Thanks guys! It's been in jail for almost 18 months. It's never been a priority in our shop so I can't complain......,but I will. Lol
We are gonna push hard for Del Mar next spring. It's a long shot but we are gonna try. |
Got the engine/trans in the frame last weekend. I also finished all of the Lizard Skin application of the inside and outside panels. That stuff is amazing and super easy to apply. Once we paint the firewall this weekend and hang the suspension on from Ridetech, the body will be ready to go back on. I'm getting pretty excited!

It's a roller! The Ridetech stuff came in and went on last night. I used the stage 2 system since this will be mostly a cruiser with maybe a GG cone session once or twice. All of the brakes are Kore3 and are what I feel to be THE best brake system I have ever used. Everythinng fits perfectly and the instructions are perfect for a dummy like me. Thanks Tobin! The Ridetech gear was easy to install and fit the chassis great. The finish on all of the products they sell is top notch- from the powdercoat to the Fox shocks. Steering and ride height aren't set yet as I need to see what happens with the body on it. I gotta paint the firewall Sunday morning and she's ready to go on Sunday afternoon!

Looks great! Congrats on making it a roller
|
Looking good my friend!
|
Wow that looks great, who makes the wheels?? I love that look!!
|
Thanks everyone! I painted the firewall today. It looks pretty good. The fan I was using to vent the overspray fell over as I was clearing it which sent dust flying into my paint. wtf!?!? Salvaged most of it but it's not perfect.
Rick those are the last set of New Gen wheels that were shipped before he went under. They are really nicely built but I think he's all done. |
Looks great Dave!!!
the red is awesome too, |
Thanks Steve!
Today was a full day. We spent quite a few hours getting the body on just right. I grabbed the air rams from my shop to lower the body on, but the legs on them are too narrow for the tires so it was wheels off, wheels on, wheels off etc. etc. It's on now for good and that's what matters. I rolled it out in the sun for the wife to inspect. She loves it and that's what matters most. On to the AC install, the dash, and the wiring for the next two weeks. http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/p...psca044cc8.jpg http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps2d007c06.jpg http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/p...psbb2cb94f.jpg http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps1504a63a.jpg |

Looks great Dave! Huge milestone getting the body on! I like the way the brakes are stuffed in there. Looks killer! Need to come by and take a look at it in person. Give me some motivation! :D

|
DAMN Dave, this thing looks the business!!! Nice job man, freakin love it..
|
Thanks everyone for the kind words. You guys are a huge source of motivation. This board has some special people for sure.
Bret and Brent just come over! The beer is cold! |
It looks really really good! I had a 66 convert that same color that i sold a couple of years back. It needed this done to it and i didnt have the motivation as i wanted to get my camaro done.
I've been kinda regretting that....seeing this stirs up the "what might have been" memories, as i bought/built it for my wifey too, but she was just never "into" it.... Can you post any pics of your 29 roadster p/u? i'm thinking of building a 29,31,32 model B for a "shop" truck for my glass shop...... Mike |

And that's quite the 'Knots Landing' level cul-de-sac ya got going there. :D |
David,
You have done such an amazing job. You resurrected the old chevelle... Fantastic job. in 3 years you have come a long way.. :king: If you ever sell it give me first dibs :hairpullout: Alan |

If we ever part with it, you'll of course get first shot. That was the deal we made. |

btw, is that a Brookefield chassis? |
Thanks glassman! It's on Duece Factory rails that have been bobbed just after the rear axle. Model As are tricky to get to sit that low so the body mods required can be intimidating, but it's worth it.
|
Steering and brakes installed. Finished all of the lines. I found these brake lines from Summit for only 20 bucks a piece. They are super nice and full swivel fittings are standard. Moving onto the dash this weekend and the radiator support.

|
Dave... looking really good man.
|
Ah you guys are the best! I'm gonna hang the radiator support and the fenderwells this weekend. That should allow me to plumb the AC and the cooling system.
|
The red is stunnng. Keep the pics coming
|
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that paint is off the hook!! looks awesome, how many coats ended up going on? Would love to see that in person!!! |
I see you went 18's and 19's, but I didn't find the widths on them.
Did you narrow the rear end any? |
