No vids on this one...still waiting on the dyno sheet. New cam didnt net the few extra ponies we thought, but actually lost a few. Still managed a measly 796 at 6700

More importantly, its finally home!! Valve covers are placeholders until the "real" ones show up. Naturally, I couldnt buy "off the shelf" :unibrow:

Now the real work begins :woot:

Good to have friends willing to help out with projects like this. Especially connected ones in the aftermarket industry. Anybody know of a few....the ones I'm stuck with would prefer a photo op instead of getting their hands dirty

Sweet!

tones2SS 03-05-2012 05:56 PM

Only 796?!?! I'm disappointed.;) (Just playing buddy.) That is going to be a nice power plant for that car. Every time I read your thread, either on here or ls1tech, I want to build the heck out of my car. Having friends at Katech is a bonus!
Keep us posted bud.

Sweet, congrats on getting it home

One step forward, 3 steps back. Have to put it back to a roller and move it to the body shop for a little cowl persuation so this damn intake fits. I hate cars....

So, threw the K-member in and a few of the supporting front suspension pieces. COULD NOT WAIT to see the wheel brake combo up front for the first time in MONTHS. Sorry for the fuzzy cell phone pics. Blame it on too much sun glare or Canadian Whiskey :unibrow:

tones2SS 03-12-2012 05:48 PM

Whatever it takes to make that engine fit. (If you don't want to,...I'll be glad to take it off your hands for you. lol) Awesome build man.
Good luck Brent.

OVRKILL 03-20-2012 02:03 PM

Few pics today before she rolled off to the body shop.

Installed shorter spring isolators - 9" rears have a tendancy to raise the ass up a little too much for my liking. Final rear suspension goodies added with a panhard relocate and adj panhard to help align the 315s.

Fuel system is place, tank reinstalled...lines and harnesses everywhere,

GrnDragon 03-29-2012 07:18 PM

I love me some 4th Gen!
I also have one of these 4th Gen snowballs, but I think yours is even worse than mine. I thought having $50k into my 95 TA was bad, your engine alone is over half my cars "investment". That is one hell of a car though, and I wish I had that engine for my 69.

Ron in SoCal 03-30-2012 07:40 AM

Ah, the old 'stuff the montser engine under the 4th Gen cowl trick'...:D

I really am digging this car. Nice work and I really like this new mold on Lateral-g

Ahhhh Mr Dragon ;) ....Total respect for your 95!! I look it like we are the trail-blazers for next 3 generations that may eventually consider the 4th gen a "classic"

Thank-you.....it's fun to finally get into the meat of this build.

Trick to this is keep its appearance "stock" with slight visual differences. The work here is to gain an additional 1-1/4" of height. Might need a small shim, 1/4" or so, on the K-member.

More carnage from yesterday......

My '99 Z28 is a high mileage daily driver, and I'm pulling together the parts to rebuild the front end. Unfortunately, I read this thread .... and just throwing those yellow Bilstein's in didn't cut it any more.

I need to follow some threads written by guys who aren't so detail oriented .........

OVRKILL - your build thread is one of my favorites! Thanks for the motivation.

In the interest of keeping the theme "clean", I spent a little time tonight putting together a few pieces that looked good in my head and have now finally become reality!

To be honest, it's a pain in the ass to FIT under the cowl!!!! Put the engine in....too much shimming....pulled it out, sent it sheet metal master....should fit now :unibrow:

Just the cowl shown in the pics Ron. That way, I didn't have the mess of moving engine mounts, new Kmember, new steering shaft, exhaust/oil pan being too close to ground zero, etc. Figured this was the lowest risk and least expensive route......you know, to keep things on budget
