A few more pics for today. You can see how the inside of the door jamb is now finished with the channel being flushed out and smooth now. Gives it a much cleaner look.

Can't wait to see it, man you guys do great work.

tech@scotts 01-24-2014 10:33 AM

The truck is in between a few other projects so getting a decent side shot is tough until I can roll it forward. Here's a couple shots of the bed on though.

It's still in pieces. We had to take at all apart in order to raise the floor up and still preserve the stock wheel wells. Rather than make new ones, we'll widen the stock ones so it has a somewhat factory look.

Just for reference, the wheels that are on there are just for mock up. The new ones will have the correct backspacing and width so they sit a lot further out. THe ones on there now look silly...

Scotts Hotrods 01-24-2014 05:28 PM

The stake pockets will be shaved on the bed

Working on the bed now. I'll shoot a few pics of the modded factory tubs as soon as they're finished.

There was a lot of work in fitting and assembling the bed, so rather than bore you all with mundane pictures of that, I figured 'd wait until some cool work was done.

Here's a few shots of the wheel tubs that were widened and a few of how we raised the wheel opening on the bed. IMHO raising the lip makes the biggest difference when the trucks are this low. It really gives it the right proportions when contrasted with the rear wheels.

Anyhow, enjoy the pics.

Here's a bit better view of the wheel tucked. Mind you, the back is up off the ground, but this is pretty close to the correct tuck.

Here's Wilwood's new caliper. This ( I believe) is the style that will replace the W4A and W6A calipers. I love the grey...

Me too. It's a great wheel choice. They'll really look nice once a little paint is on the truck.

The taillights from Marquez showed up on Friday and we were anxious to get them in. They look great, just took a bit of work to get them in. It was easier to make a filler panel and then re-cut the opening to get the gaps right. In the end though, they're a sweet taillight bezel. The led's aren't here yet, but I'll post some pics when they get in.

http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps9c0c6f57.jpg

http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...psf22f650b.jpg

We also made a filler panel to take up the gap in the bed and tailgate. The panel unbolts so the tailgate can be removed. It's a little detail that won't really be seen, but it creates a nice look, so it's worth doing.

IIRC, You have to either be a member of Goodguys, or you have to enter a car in at one of their events.

tech@scotts 03-31-2014 01:43 PM

The interior is starting to be put back together.

We removed all of the inner sheet metal part sin order to make sure there was zero rust hiding. Good thing we did too, because there was a ton. Now it's time for it to all be put back in, as well as a new trans and driveshaft tunnel.

http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps8eedebf5.jpg

Because the corner pillars were pied, there's going to be just a tab bit of massaging to get the inner panel to line back up. Not much though.

http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...psec408ca1.jpg

http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...psa7acb2db.jpg

Since this truck sits so low, the trans and driveshaft tunnel are going to be more car like, than truck like.

http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r...psc87ebfc5.jpg

We also wanted to make sure there was plenty of room around the trans to work on it. We all assume the winner of this truck is going to drive it likes it's meant to be, so at some point, it'll need some kind of service. Nothing worse that trying work on a show vehicle that's not built to be worked on. There's ample hand room in there.

Amazing fabrication! You've taken C10's to a whole new level. With the roof modifications, I guess you have to have the door glass custom made?

Not so much custom glass, as much as just a little shaving and polishing. With this chop, all the factory glass can be used. Makes it much easier.

tech@scotts 04-09-2014 07:28 AM

Since the truck is getting pulled apart at this stage for paint and what not, The guys rolled it outside. This was the last time for me to see the truck or take any pics of it in bare metal.
The final ride height is still not set, but it's pretty close at this point. Just a little bit of leveling and setting the stance now.
