Based on what you've got in your collection, I'd say you need an aluminum 632 cid bbc, 1150 dominator.

3200 lbs with me in it, pump premium, 36 degrees timing, 10 second quarters all day long in good air. Ain't touched it since I put it in about 7 years ago.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'm getting a 496ci BB built by Pacific Performance in Anaheim, Ca. It will spin 6500 and make 650-660hp about the same torque. It's not a "crate" motor, they are building it from scratch with good pieces. The guy I talked to, Troy, was very nice and knew his products. He didn't just try and sell me what he had on the shelf.

Good one. Different car. My L88 Camaro I've had since High School/1973. Its a clone kinda but Chevrolet never built one I don't think. ZL/1 was there max effort Camaro IMHO. I looked at those blocks when I built the L/88 and didn't like them. Used Vega liner technology or something like that. Also not very strong. Plus they wanted ALOT more money. I looked at the Reynolds block but that was not GM.

You are not alone. We've got a 496 built for Jake Parrott's project.

If the dyno is honest, $50 says its more like 620-640HP  Which is plenty. Homie.
