The paint looks like glass. Beautiful car!

NOPANTS68 02-25-2014 09:42 PM

Thanks Wayne! The clear is hardened up now so I'll start another polishing round to finish it up. Here's what we finished last weekend. We got the two post up at our house so we tried our hand at the exhaust game. It's really tough, but we finished it up. It's headed to the ceramic coating shop this week. We used 4 mandrels, a Summit X pipe, Flowmaster mandrel tailpipes, and Borla XR-1s with 16 inch cases. I think i's gonna sound really crisp so now I'm on the hunt for the EFI. I also posted a pic of the plumbing I'm using. It's Aeromotive line without stainless braid. It's amazing and super easy to use. I'm hooked.

Off to the shop at home.

R67Chevelle 02-27-2014 12:02 PM

Awesome job dave. Chevelle is looking incredible. Looks like early summer cruzin is on the horizon... :gitrdun:

NOPANTS68 02-27-2014 01:14 PM

Thanks everyone! Yeah summer cruising is right around the corner for us. The interior is gonna be a huge bill so the savings game is on. I gotta get the EFI dialed in and get this thing fired. looks like I also need a steel gear for the dizzy before we make sounds.

dirtshark 02-27-2014 03:50 PM

Dave, real nice exhaust work and LOVE the plumbing!!!! Lookin racey... I have to get out of my garage and come see it. Great job man.

Thanks Bret! It's like 8 doors down from your house right now at dad's shop lol . Come over!

WSSix 02-27-2014 05:40 PM

Looks great! Really like the colors you've chosen on everything. I do have a suggestion though. Change the routing on the vacuum line for the booster. You can bend a hard line that drops off the manifold and bends around the valve cover in order to get over to the booster. I think that would help show off the valve cover better.

Here's what I did on my car for reference.

joooo can do it!

what water neck are you running?

NOPANTS68 02-28-2014 10:18 AM

WSixx- that's a way better idea than what i did. lol I'll do that this weekend. Thanks!

I'm not sure about the rear bar yet. The Risetech guys are saying it's a must have, but a few guys on Chevells.com have said it's not worth it because they didn't notice a difference. I'll probably do it for asthetics lol.

The waterneck I'm running is one I found on ebay. Some dude milling in his garage I think makes them. It's one of the nicest parts I've seen. I'll look and see if I can find his info.

Vince@Meanstreets 03-01-2014 03:52 PM

Thanks buddy, I've been looking for something like that.

The reason I ask about the rear bar is that I had added front and rear sways to my 66 Skylark and the handling improved dramatically. Now I'm working on lowering it and was strongly leaning toward the RideTech coil over set up and was hoping the bar would still work. Don't want to go backward.

Nice build! That paint job is :thumbsup:

NOPANTS68 03-18-2014 09:21 PM

Finally finished the exhaust Sunday. I had it ceramic coated last week and love the finish. It took hours to reinstall by myself but I finally wrestled it together. I can't wait to hear it, but I gotta get the EFI installed first next week.

Thanks Ken and Vince! I'll be at Pleasanton but without the car since it's not wired yet. I'm getting my '29 ready for del mar right now. You guys going?

MarkM66 03-19-2014 07:45 AM

Very nice car, all of it!

That air cleaner plenum looks familiar. I built one for my '66.

Car is coming along, I'm loving it!

The exhaust looks great, I can't wait to hear it. The car looks awesome.

NOPANTS68 05-30-2014 05:36 PM

OK here's where we are now. The dash and gauges are in and partially wired. We made a new panel and moulded it into the original AC dash. After hours or blocking and primer work, it came out pretty well. The Vintage Air system has been plumbed from the evaporator out into the engine bay. I'll be installing the fenderwells this morning and terminating the hoses once I get a feel for length. I hope to have the wiring completed inside two weeks and the shifter turret completed this weekend. Pics:

Very nice, I love all the black contrasting parts.

GregWeld 05-30-2014 07:41 PM

Just looking awesome!

Hey --- just remember that the motor TORQUES pulling on that big stiff radiator hose - so hope you left enough "slack" on it. Can't tell from the pictures. Rubber hoses are pretty elastic -- but some of the AN braided hose stuff isn't and it can work on that aluminum radiator just enough to hairline fracture it around the weld. Ask me how I know... LOL

NOPANTS68 05-30-2014 08:44 PM

Thanks Vince and Greg! I appreciate the comments.

Good point on those hoses Greg. My '32 did that on the lower -16 after I lit it off from a dig. Since that super fun incident, I now make sure I can flex the hoses at a minimum of a half inch up and down. This car has urethane mounts so there will be minimal movement. Good point though.

NOPANTS68 06-05-2014 05:31 PM

Thanks Alan. You're too kind. We're just two bums in a three car garage lol.

waynieZ 06-06-2014 07:28 PM

That is Gorgeous! Nice work.

NOPANTS68 06-16-2014 06:55 AM

Well yesterday was a big day for the Chevelle. It left the house under its own power for the first time. The MSD Atomic EFI in incredible. It's still learning itself and the rings are still seating but it's alive. The dash will be going in tonight as well as the real seats once the brackets get here. Then it's off to the upholstery shop. The exhaust is 3 inch, X pipe, and Borla XR-1s done by my brother and myself. The cam is the stock ZZ502 roller from GMPP. The air cleaner is temporary of course.
