love this car. Are you guys running the Electromotive EFI system?

We had a bunch of issues that we had to sort out. We are switching over to a FAST unit but need to come up with a cam signal. Not much room back there with the intake...any thoughts?

Don't run it in sequential mode. run it bank to bank. you won't need a cam signal only a crank signal.

GregWeld 11-27-2012 03:03 PM

EXACTLY ---

I run both my cars in Bank to Bank -- they run great!

i have seen so many custom cars, nothing usually floors me enough to comment. but damn, that has to be the nicest camaro i have ever seen. good job guys.

Chris, we are running the Electromotive EFI on the car. This motor is set up to only use a crank sensor,no cam sensor. It is set up to batch fire instead of sequentially fire. We don't have the car running yet so I can't weigh in on the EFI system.

I think that we are going to put a K&N sticker on the quarter glass. I hear that in the rice rocket world those are good for 10 - 15 HP!

Thanks everyone. This is a pretty bad ass Camaro for sure... but stay tuned for a few more improvements to the style as well as fit & finish that should be happening around the first of the year. :_paranoid

Time for an update on the beast!

With the all the previous work getting completed around SEMA last year, the owner began to think that the exterior needed some attention. While the exterior of the car looked as tough as a blacked out '69 can, it didn't really convey the performance capabilities lurking beneath. A plan formed for a more aggressive update on the looks- a 'wolf in wolf's clothing', as it were.

You can see from the rendering, modifications will include an aggressive hood opening, custom grille and honeycomb insert and RS headlight treatment, lower 'open' valence and front splitter, side moldings with carbon inserts and aggressive rear diffuser and air straightener. Front bumper will be neatened up and tucked while the rear will receive an aesthetic change to match the front. The rear spoiler has a touch of WRC style with the vertical air fins and will have a swept profile to flow with the body.

RS-Chris 04-10-2013 01:29 PM

We started at the rear with the bumper. The factory bumper on the front (while usually ill-fitting) looks 'correct' for the front of the '69. The rear, in our opinion, always looks a little like an afterthought. We decided to make the bumper fit the natural lines of the rear tailpanel shape while sweeping up and into the body like a Mustang or the RS Challenger we did a few years back.

The tail edges of the quarters were removed to accomplish two things. First was to tip the quarter out to meet the new bumper edge. Second was to straighten the body line that follows the quarters where it meets the tailpanel.

New quarter end pieces made and in place. You can see how moving the edge out helps the overall look of where it meets the bumper.

RS-Chris 04-10-2013 01:37 PM

While still a subtle alteration, this mod dictates that a new bumper would need be made as we wanted the lower edge to sit lower than stock.

With the bumper wrapped up and looking good, we move on to the rear diffuser. Layout of the openings and creating the 'split' area where the opening edge meets the body.

I was gonna ask the same thing. I thought the one on the trunk was the gas filler neck, but then I saw the one behind the license plate. Can you please give details. The car was already awesome. Now it will be awsomer!! :headspin: :headspin:

We haven't touched the interior yet. It was fairly standard, black on black, Marquez doors etc. There are interior pics here: http://www.nelsonracingengines.com/t...ercar-004.html

Awesome work as usual guys. The metal work around the rear is sick!
I was just there and didn't even realize what was going on with this car. Have to pay more attention to it next time.

Your guy's ability to turn those way cool renderings into actual metal is just amazing...Not some cheesy ass bondo-ed up fiberglass molds that will flex and fall apart and not match, but REAL SHEET METAL...

I am just blown away and look forward to every single pic you guys post...

Thanks so much for taking the time to do that for us...

When reading through the start of this thread i was gonna ask a question about how the exhausts were going to pass through the frame at the rear loop in relation to the floor, as a pic later on showed the floor sitting right in the middle of where you had the holes in the frame for the exhaust.
I see you changed it though to just a recess in the bottom of the frame instead of passing through it, could you have also raised the floor a bit in the rear to still pass through the frame? or is the way you have done it still kept the exhaust pretty horizontal through that area without having to dip down around the frame.
Just asking a question without going back through the thread to find the pics, not sure if anyone else picked up the change either.

Good eye - we did change the plan for the exhaust as we were building the floor. We decided it didn't need to to encroach on the interior space any more. We changed out the rear crossmember for a different design you can see here:

Progress continues on the rear valance with fab work on the diffuser 'scoops'. With the openings created and new lower sheetmetal blended with the body we start laying out the shape and spacing of the outer wall.

You can see from this shot that the scoops are not just flat sheetmetal bent to the 2d profile. Each scoop now has a flared edge, steps, attachment bosses, and a wall thickness!
