The side detail on this '69 will be a little different than usual as it will start on the quarter and run into the door sheetmetal.

Nothing quite like cutting a giant hole in the side of a car... :_paranoid

Note that the insert main shape doesn't just follow the door profile straight back, it follows the contour of the door while twisting to match the profile of the lower quarter...

Next up, the inner edges and the other side!

onefast70elco 05-24-2013 01:42 PM

Side skirts and scoop on body look great..

What kind of GPA do you need to get into Camaro69 University? ;)

syborg tt 05-24-2013 03:05 PM

Looks Awesome !!!!!!!

Rick D 05-24-2013 09:43 PM

Very nice!! This is really going to be over the top now

waynieZ 05-27-2013 12:23 AM

Looks sweet.

214Chevy 05-27-2013 01:07 AM

So, so sick!! This thing in now on that other level

FathomGreen69 05-27-2013 02:47 PM

Wow, the execution, as usual for you guys, is brilliant.

crazycarguy22 05-29-2013 09:27 AM

The body looks so nasty, much more of a match for that insane engine hiding under the hood. Incredible work and attention to detail.

RS-Chris 06-24-2013 02:55 PM

Some of the latest progress pics on this Camaro: got the doors/recess wrapped up and gapped nicely, also removed the door handle and locks.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7330/9...fae995e6_b.jpg

Next up, the hood!
The plan here was a bold, diving recess with lower openings to allow for some much needed airflow around the monster motor and turbos.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7296/9...13ab6a4e_b.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7372/9...64fbc029_b.jpg

http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2882/9...2c59f349_b.jpg

The plan then was to widen and fill the recesses on the upper cowl, picking up the new body lines from the hood. The design progressed a little further to merge the left and right recesses into one large one.

Time for more pics of the progress of, perhaps the most malevolent vehicle in the shop: "The Truth".

Finishing up the metalwork on the hood and windshield cowl. You can see in this pic how deep we managed to get the pockets to extend into the already packed engine bay:

http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5536/9...a6a584a6_b.jpg

The lowest faces of the hood scoops will eventually be opened up and receive a machined bezel and mesh.

Attention then turns to the front splitter and lower valance opening.

Incorporating the 'winglets' on the splitter:

http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3831/9...2df6cc82_b.jpg

We dont always engineer our standoffs, but when we do, they are cnc cut and airfoil shaped...;)

http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2836/9...775bd260_b.jpg

With the main shape of the splitter locked in, we now begin the lower valance (or lack thereof) and the opening shape:

This car was so cool before all of the extra mods, but now it's way cool. :king:

Rick D 08-02-2013 02:45 PM

Well I guess it's time for another trip to see the shop!!! :confused59:
:king:

preston 08-02-2013 02:55 PM

Fab question - Is that splitter 0.25" aluminum or thicker ?

And the rounded leading edge was that really formed solely by hand operation of the grinder/sander ? Looks pretty nice if so.

Yup - .25" aluminum and the edge was hand ground.

I'm more impressed every time I check progress! The recessed cowl the width of the hood vents with cowl induction overlap looks like it was meant to be that way. The splitter is really nice too! Great job!

GrabberGT 08-03-2013 06:28 AM

If a camaro mated with a Lamborghini... LOL. Looks awesome.

randy 08-03-2013 05:30 PM

can you tell me what the length of the wood you used for your stands? Are the lifts the same size front and rear? I need to make a set asap.

DFRESH 08-03-2013 06:33 PM

This thing is all kinds of cool. Man oh man---Camaro envy--I have it for this one bad.

And picking up where we left of with the lower opening, finishing up the opening edge and spoiler:

As possibly mentioned before, it will be getting a custom mesh set back within the opening which will match the main grille.
