Hood fitment

Has anyone had a problem with cowl hood fitting ?? to much arch along fenders ???

GregWeld 04-24-2011 07:21 PM

You going to have to play like a surgeon.... "cut to cure"?

MarkM66 04-25-2011 07:11 AM

Yeah, no aftermarket hood fits.

You're luck if an original hood fits. :)

I am building a 66 also had the same problems hood didn't fit the fenders and the quarter panels were a 1/4 inch short on the door gaps I blamed it on after market parts glad to see I was not alone. It looks like you cut the quarter and filled it in? If I ever get computer smart I will post pictures us Nova guys have to stick together.

The picture of hood is after it was mauled with a 4lb hammer and a 4x4 to de-arch it,, Yes it will have some filler, but either possum stomp it or maul it with a hammer !!! The link to my old Camaro shows after the possum stomping and mauling !!!https://lateral-g.net/members/jennings/

Search over on "Steve's Nova Site" for an answer to this question.

As Greg Weld said cut to cure !!! that has been done, the aftermarket parts for a nova are no better than for a camaro-etc,. !! Nothing a little welding and cutting won't cure,, but it just adds moe work to get the gaps right,,
