You can see in the pic that the top corner on the door is rounded off from the factory square corner that comes on these doors stock. This adds a nice look when the drip rail is removed

for those of you that are thinking it. It is the shadow of the lip on the pillar that make the gap look uneven although it is the same.

When you do the final TIG welding on something like that windshield header, how long is your average pull ? Judging by the HAZ it looks like you only go about 1-2" at a time. Is that about right ? Just fill in between a tack or two ?

On a piece like that, I actually get it tacked about every 1/2 - 5/8 of an inch. This helps it retain is shape through the welding process. And then when I weld it I try to count out the number of times I add rod to the weld then stop and cool it. I typically count to 6 on detailed piece like this one which equals about a 1/2 - 5/8.
With that being said I don't necessarily stick to going tack to tack as sometimes that is to long of a pass. I mainly try to have short and very consistent heat affect zones, as this keeps the warping and pulling to a minimum and makes for a easier time metal finishing.
Also, if the piece is cut in correctly and you have near zero gap as I do that drastically reduces warping along with my welding process.

OK I'll stop

The last picture gives you a good idea of just how much peak get's removed.
