You guys with your fancy floor cleaning machines are all rich!

ME? Not so much....

I bought two of these Milwaukee 8926 machines for my little bitty shed.... One for dry and the other is set up as wet only... Because I'm too lazy to switch them back and forth.

It's all finished Mike! No more pics because nothing has changed! She's done - built - kaput. More pics on the 14th - 15th and 16th and 18th when this shed gets packed up -- and then move in. I promise a full discloser!

GregWeld 07-05-2014 11:35 AM

Okay -- Just for Mike because he's not following along on Instagram....

The first piece moved in to the new shed... a fiberglass mold of me....

Jeff-

I made it private because I was posting up pics of other people - and tagged them - and I didn't want to cause an international sensation. (reminds me of the TV commercial - I unfriend you).

Is it considered a club, if it's a club of one?

All you have to do is request....

And I did turn down someone the other day because I didn't recognize who was asking. Do you have an "I" and a "g" in your screen name?

So request again if you did and I turned your sorry ass down.... now that I've been outed it public.

Ketzer 07-06-2014 12:03 PM

I just requested this morning GW. My name followed by the number 9.
You will make the 4th or 5th person I "follow"... wow, I'm really embracing this social media big time...

Okay --- you're in the inner circle now dude. I still don't know how to do very much with the thing - but I do post now and again. It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

It turned out fine tones.... I tried to talk him into doing 2 coats of the clear top coat - but he said that the floor would then be "slick" - and that with just the one coat the little flakes have some bite to them. In a cold snowy climate like Sun Valley... I went with his recommendation. We also discussed him coming back to do the "shop" floor area if I decided I wanted to invite Charley over.... but after the friggin' dust I had to clean up --- that's not going to happen.

The parts that he painted look pretty dang good though!

clill 07-08-2014 06:32 AM

That coating won't hold up in the shop area. It will be great in the non working area where you have it though. Just be sure to promptly wipe up oil drips etc. I have the same coating in my clean shop where I don't work on stuff. Stuff leaking out of cars like brake fluid, gasoline and gear oils will eventually stain it. Diamond polish like I told you earlier you tard.

So --- when you look at that spot where the Lotus sat --- do you get a nice warm fuzzy smile on your face thinking of me??

After getting the quote for diamond polishing... My only thought was: "If I had Charley's money - I'd burn mine..."

Yes your leaking P.O.S. left a nice stain. If your guy is telling you that fluids won't stain it have him put it in writing.

If I was you -- I'd just have the guy on a retainer and he'd come and re-do your floors every 6 months.

No -- the guy warned me what will happen if I do "X" to the floor... welding splatter... fluid stains etc. What he said WOULD NOT happen is that it wouldn't peel up with hot tires... and that's guaranteed... but I didn't put it in the hot tire area. I just wanted the tool area to be clean and nice looking. He also said he can repair the floor if I mess it up - or he can come back to top coat it if it gets messed up somehow.

I just am not willing to blow another 15 grand polishing the floors just to please you. Gwen said she didn't need it for her new hot rod to be beautiful... LOL

More importantly --- I KNOW I'm a floor abuser.... so why waste the money and then I have to stress out over them.

You work on cars? I thought you had a mechanic named Mark and your work shop was in Michigan. :headscratch:

Actually I'm getting old and cranky and tired of working on crap. I have a junk lower back and each time I work on a car I end with my back killing me for the next few days. I used to love tearing into stuff but now I end up thinking how sore I'm gonna be .Waaaaaa.

you need to get a bunch of minions to train to do all the heavy lifting while you sit back and do the easy tinkering.

Good one Vince!

Actually - the Lotus doesn't leak (Toyota motor).... but the idiots that installed the race pan (Lotus dealer) just didn't bother to tighten the plugs that are in the dry sump bungs...

It's little wonder I started doing all this stuff myself years ago... since I always have to go behind them to clean up and make sure things are done right.

GregWeld 07-14-2014 05:55 PM

6 movers showed up this morning and started ripping in to it! OMG I hate moving - even the THOUGHT of moving - but it's gotta be done!

After 9 years -- a guy can collect a LOT of "stuff".... but it didn't seem to faze them.

The lift had already been taken down and palletized -- so the rest was "take stuff off the walls and shelves and pack it up.

9 AM......

This shoulda been the last to go.... like the Jackson Browne song "The Load out"

Now roll them cases out and lift them amps
Haul them trusses down and get'em up them ramps
'Cause when it comes to moving me
You guys are the champs
But when that last guitar's been packed away
You know that I still want to play
So just make sure you got it all set to go
Before you come for my piano....

I'v used the same firm for at least 3 or 4 moves over the last 25 years. We know the owner very well - as my wife used to head up this function while she was HR Director at Microsoft back in the big growth days. This firm had moving trucks and personnel on site there for a number of years almost non-stop. WE have history, as they say. For this move - they sent the "A" team. So far - so good.

Since I'm not using the same company to unload - a third party trucker is coming Wednesday morning with a 53' lift gate van to load and haul to SV. It's a full load with no other stuff in the truck but mine. That is all factored in the quote for the job.

The lonely little boxes there on the floor (in the picture below) -- that would be "the stereo"... which after many many moves -- I've held a tradition of -- that's the very last thing to be packed -- and the very first thing to be un-packed. It rides with me this morning to SV. No work gets done without music!

It must feel strange seeing it empty, but at the same time exciting to go to the new shed. How long for them to get to the new shop?

Very cool.
