The Mule in the corkscrew *warning - huge pics*

Here are some killer photographs taken of the Mule at Laguna Seca today. Nothing like seeing the most famous g-machine of all time take one of the most famous corners in the world. :hail:

Looks like a Blast!

I'd like to know how much weight is on the right front tire in those turns. Not much I'd bet.

It can't be. The photos must be fake. The Mule has a four link which is subject to the dreaded :goofy:  "Roll Bind". Surely the car would suddenly flip over and barrel roll eighteen times in the corkscrew? And that car has a C4 clip which everyone knows is one less better than a C5 clip and TWO less betterer than a C6 clip. :faint:

Oh, and it's a proven fact that the Mule NEVER sees track time.

jvike 02-19-2008 06:40 AM

Very cool! There must be some serious G-forces at play in the corkscrew

That's awesome. You couldn't have picked a better guy than Charley to own the Mule. Most people who buy cars like that keep them in a showroom surrounded by velvet ropes.

James OLC 02-19-2008 07:03 AM

Way Cool!

Alex396ss 02-19-2008 07:08 AM

Great pics!

I actually tried to take a video but the remote on off controller I had clipped to the carpet kept coming loose. So there I am trying to navigate Laguna, grabbing the loose controller with one hand and driving with the other. I finally realize this is really stupid and dangerous, press one button hoping it will record but it didn't. By the afternoon session the tires were finally warming up to where they would stick and I was getting to know the track a little better.

You forgot, when those turbos spool up, it's going to swap ends immediately.

Killer photos. I'm also happy to see you out there driving that car HARD like it was meant to be used for.

Great shots.... looks like a blast!!

buickfunnycar.com 02-19-2008 10:28 AM

You're starting to get some good track time @ Laguna aren't you Charlie?

7TSS 02-19-2008 10:29 AM

Sweet pics. Must've been a blast. Glad to see the Mule mixing it up with the newer iron and more than holding its own. :hail:

Stuart Adams 02-19-2008 10:42 AM

Hey Charley, how much boost.

clill 02-19-2008 11:11 AM

I think about 8lbs boost. Trying not to look at the guage when it is coming on. You always look fast when there are fast cars in the pics. Doesn't mean that they didn't pass you a few seconds later.

Stuart Adams 02-19-2008 11:14 AM

Cool pics. Looks fun. Car looks like it behaves pretty well.

what were your lap times near the end of the day after some heat and seat time?

clill 02-19-2008 12:33 PM

Never got any lap times but I can assure you I wasn't setting the track on fire......

Steve;
Thank God it didnt have air on it too..... that would have been triple bad! We all know that air suspensions are not any good for a roadcoarse :wow:

;) Right there with you. I can burn tires up but sometimes don't seem to get anywhere doing it hahaha.

BTW, forgot to mention, cool car. I have more than a few pics of it copied from the net to my pictures folder...

fvike 02-19-2008 03:18 PM

Wow, look at how much compression the rear suspension has in the corkscrew, contra (normal ride height?) at the straight under the Mazda sign. That's an indication of the g's in that corner. :unibrow:

rwhite692 02-19-2008 03:23 PM

Damn Charley, you look like you are havin' some serious fun. Thanks for sharing the pics! -Rob

Doug Harden 02-19-2008 03:46 PM

Great photos , I would love to have been there.

The next time someone starts a thread about what color to paint their calipers, please just post that photo....

Buick Motorsports 02-19-2008 05:11 PM

Hi Res versions available???????

For those of us that would like to put this car porn up in the garage.

mazspeed 02-19-2008 05:29 PM

Looks great Charlie. How far off, if at all where you from the vettes?

Ummgawa 02-19-2008 05:43 PM

Always imitated...

There can be only one. Charlie, I have said it before but it bears repeating. I was a nut and bolt, "love 'em the way the General built 'em" kinda numbskull.

UNTIL I saw the Mule. It (to me) is still the baddest mutha in the Valley.

KPC67 02-19-2008 07:04 PM

That is awesome! You guys have way too much fun:D

Kevin

xplantdad 02-19-2008 07:24 PM
